Love Andre Payette. Hoped him, Claude Jutras jr, or Clayton Norris would have been a Flyer at some point. Guys like usually get a few games. Any thoughts on the 3 Bill? |

Andre is a good guy at heart. Liked him as a Phantom. Later went overseas and played/coached in the UK for a long time. Ran in to severe personal problems to the point there was fear for his life but has seemingly put his life back together again since returning to live in Canada. His son still lives overseas but they seemingly stay in touch. Always liked Andre and I am happy that he seems to be doing well now. Attended a couple Oilers playoff games and recently posted a pic of his son decked out in Flyers swag.
Norris could play a bit in addition to fighting. In the Flyers' org, there wasn't a need for him in the NHL because they had Dan Kordic, Scott Daniels, Shawn Antoski, etc. and the Maple Leafs had Tie Domi and others. Norris also went over to play in the UK.
I remember the Flyers drafting Jutras but I don't recall seeing him play more than couple times in the AHL and the old IHL. I do know he was a typical example of someone who could both fight and score at the junior level but had to adapt to being solely an enforcer once he moved up to the pros. |

You remember a prospect Patrice Paquin (sp). For some odd reason he always stood out to me at their camps. Clearly never went anywhere.
Good stuff Bill!!! Get them involved in the Flyers alumni games. |

I was the the 2005 Calder Cup clinching game, and missed the 1998 clincher by one game when St Johns Flames won the Sunday game..
Unfortunately my most stark memories of the Phantoms game in 98 were of a fat probably drunk or drugged woman in Phantoms jersey standing in the aisle for ages and yelling at the Flames fans who made the road trip down from New Brunswick and some slob in an Eagles sweatshirt throwing trash at them from a few rows behind. The ushers were not very good at dealing with that crap behavior.. I think the Flames fans ended up moving back to the last row and we sat with them. They were thick skinned enough to deal with it, but just another indictment of some fans small lives being acted out in public. |

Great write up on those phantoms teams. Some posters in here really don’t know how good we have it.

Bill Mentioned Monty in an article therefore,
by the power of the press, Monty is the new coach.
Like the choice. |

For sure today we have had numerous guys like Richards and Carter coming from Jr. to playoffs and take off...like, and then, and of course there is.
Old mother hubbard went to the cupboard and the cupboard was in a house post apocalypse.

And the prize for bad fan behavior goes to the NYR fan banned for life from MSG, arrested and shown to be a fricking coward asswipe across the web, for sucker punching a Lightning fan...he may be looking for new employment as well depending on the policies of his employer...

I was at a game in the early 00's where I saw a couple Flyer fans beat the crap out of a father in front of his two kids and wife...because he had an Islander jersey on. No words exchanged, just 2 Flyer fans jumped him in the parking lot after the game.
It happens everywhere, no matter the team. Just like in the posted video where Ranger fans were upset the guy did that, Flyer fans tackled the two guys who jumped the Islander fan.
No matter the sport or the team there are bumholes everywhere. They always get what they deserve sooner or later.

The 2004-05 Strike year also saw Flyers Farm team Trenton Titans win the cup, Though no one made it to the NHL a few made i up to the Phantons and things were looking good for Phillys future on all ends. Not so much these current days! |

Rangers have a helluva team. Its sickening how good they are already, and even more sickening how much better they are going to get. I hate their team and am also green with envy. They are going to absolutely humiliate us for the foreseaable future, and you know what: our organization absolutely deserves it. |

Yes, in reality, the coach won't matter. We have a team full of 2nd/3rd liners and there's a lot of work to do. It's not a popular goal, but the main goal of the org will be to get back to the playoffs. No matter who we hire, nobody on here will be happy. Trotz is boring, Torts is too tough, Tocch and Monty are former Flyers, etc. We need a star to build around and as much as I like Coots, he is not the guy at this point of his career.
