Fraser is easily replaceable as a 6th D. Shouldn't have qualified him |

Liles should have been bought out, not Komisarek. |

As if he wants 2m.
I say let him walk.
If we can't find a new home for Liles or Dion, then we may very well lose an extremely solid guy in Franson |

If we cant trade liles for anything, then buying him out doesnt seem too bad. For next year, we would have 3 extra million that should be enough to sign everyone.
But that also means Nonis is basically admitting a mistake. Would have been much smarter to use compliance buyout with liles, then a regular buyout of komisarek.

I'm beginning to wonder if Nonis knows what he's doing |

I really liked Fraser with the Leafs this past year, but not for $2M!
1.5M tops. |

Nonis places a lot of importance on guys who "protect teammates and the honor of the club"...so... |

No
Liles and Komisarek should have been bought out.
The correct play was doing that and not resigning Bozak. would have 2+ mill more available.

Do we need to explain again why Grabovski could not be on this team any longer? |
|
|
|
JML is just not a Carlyle type guy...move him keep Franson. |

I would hope he also places importance on retaining his best players....2 of which remain unsigned. |

Kadri isn't ready to play 1st line minutes... Bozak has chemistry with Kessel, Grabovski doesn't and Grabo wasn't willing to play a checking role....
Where does that leave the team? |

Wait, I'm almost positive we get a non-compliance buyout to use up to 48-hours after a salary arbitration award, assuming this goes that far. |

Can't let them walk anymore, have to sign them to whatever the Arbitrator awards.
I also believe that the Arbitrator can't come up with their own number anymore either. They have to pick one of the two's amounts. So If they don't settle on a contract before tomorrow, Fraser is either an angry Leaf at 825,000, or a overpaid Leaf with no D partner at 2 mil. |

I'm pretty sure they can still come up with their own number. |

I think it depends on number of arb awards, etc. I thought there had to be 2. Not certain they get 1 just because they had an arb award...

they can pick any number they want. That's why Leafs go Low and Franson goes way to (frank)ing high... so that even if he "loses" he probably still gets 400K more than he should have ($1.2M is my guess...) |
