I’m still not convinced a team built around 3 Hughes brothers can win the cup against other great teams in 4 best of 7 series. Someone’s gona get hurt, out-muscled, or lose confidence and pout out. Would you rather have 2 Tkachuk brothers or 3 Hughes? MacKinnon/Makar or 2 Hughes? The list goes on.
Point is, our plan is for these 3 guys to be our best players, get paid the most on the team at the expense of other options, and be the identity of the team. Is that the answer for the next decade? I know they’re all young, but I’m not yet convinced.
Is Mercer the answer? Probably not, but I do still like him. Dougie I still like, even at his price, but he’s obviously not a long-term answer. |
