Karine Hains: Less than one Week to Go With less than one week to go before the NHL draft, plenty of questions remain about the way forward for the Canadiens.

Hughes could also be looking to trade quantity for quality and package a few picks to move up in the draft. If the Canadiens have their sights on a middle 1st rounder, I think it’s quite likely they’d package pick 26 and 33 to snatch their target.

I would expect something like this to happen. That or using picks to get a prospect or young NHL palyer. No name in mind.

Anderson is probably mtl best trade chip after Petry. Then again, unless the offer is really good, the best thing to do here might be to keep him and play him with Caufield and Suzuki.

If Dubois wants to play in mtl, no need to trade for him. I saw people online saying he could change his mind once again. Then why would mtl trade assets for him then and be stuck with a player who does not want to be here anymore? Makes zero sense.

About the goalie situation, what would you think about Fleury coming short term untill Primeau is ready?

Wright....

There will be trades, no way the Habs make 14 picks.....

Goalie issue is a concern, but fixing the D might be a bigger priority.

They have a lot of d prospects coming up. That should fix the d, long term. It's not about next season anyway.

If Petry is gone, they will get a defenseman, but don't expect anything crazy there.

I don';t get the fascination with PLD, personally.

He seems to cause trouble wherever he goes, is not a 1st line center, but wants to be paid like one.

Habs do not need another wildly inconsistent player eating up too much cap space.

In CBUS he wants to play 1st line minutes, doesn't get them and forces a trade.

In the PEG, he gets 1st line minutes, doesn't produce like a 1C. Wants to test FA market to be paid like a 1C.

Who the (frank) would want this primadonna?

Pass on PLD. He has shades of Ribeiro. I'd rather see Suzuki, Wright and an assortment this year run the C position.

the only way PLD makes sense is if they intend to pick Sly at #1, which I doubt they will do. I still think they want Wright.

I cannot find a way that PLD ever makes sense, unless he comes here at a reasonable price, accepts a role as the 2nd line center he is, and be a team player.

He has shown none of that so far.

In other words, he just does not make any sense.

Lots of rumours out there about the goalie Mike DiPietro from the Nucks. Good goalie, won a memorial cup, then mismanaged, put on the taxi squad and fell down the depth charts with Vancouver. He may be a good, viable, young, cheap solution and a kid that needs a fresh start. Would be an upgrade on Monty and a better backup for Allen or to split duties?

The only concern here is that if Allen goes down once again, they will call up Primeau and that could be a pretty bad idea.
