Great 1st pd but can't let up. NYR embarrassed right now, will come out hungry for the last 40 minutes. Got to be ready to match their intensity. LET'S GO HAWKS!!!! |

Wow, so this is what it's like when the OTHER team's goalie is giving up weak goals and unable to make a big save. Hawks look like they felt a little disrespected that the Rangers went with Biron and the Rangers . . . well . . . they look like they thought they'd just show up and win this game. Rangers playing to the Hawks strengths by giving them the neutral zone and allowing them to make the long stretch passes, something we haven't seen them be able to do in awhile. Hopefully, they keep playing the same way throughout and don't let up. You have the Rangers down and uninterested, so kept it that way. |

It's all a process...whether it takes 5 or 50 games, I don't care. Every team (and coach) should only be judged by whether or not they won the last game they play each season. - andru2797
Which the hawks failed to do in the regular season and the playoffs last year then they didn't change their ways. But after winning a Stanley Cup? Change the PK, the PP, and general style of play. This coaching staff has shown a lot of negative over the past 1.5 years. I know they can coach the team to play better (like tonight) but they usually don't. Maybe someone is holding their feet to the fire. Q might be like Lovie, gotta put pressure on him or he gets complacent and doesn't drive the team. |

I think you're spot on, especially with the 'Hawks feeling as though they should have won the other night. A little bit of a corner turned I suppose, and then to have them start Biron . . . . Sports psychology sure is a funny thing.
One period does not erase the so many problems they still have, though it's been kind of nice to watch. |

Off to great start and that big dope had no intention of playing the puck and takes a awful penalty and the teams mo.... - bogiedoc
I would like to ammend my earlier statement. I did not see shaw hook the ranger player, I was looking the other way or something. Not a smart play, but not completely terrible. Got our team fired up I think. Hit was a bit cheap, in that it was a bit out of the play, otherwise a clean hit. |

Yeah. Q has DEFINITELY lost this team. AND he has no idea how to adjust a PK. - andru2797
Dude, you are hysterical. You really are. The Hawks have lost NINE games in a row and 11 straight road games. They had one good period - I mean the game isn't over yet - and you're already acting like they are back on track and the previous two or three weeks don't mean a thing. Do you think we could wait and see if they could string a few wins in a row before getting too excited. Or hell, wait to see if they win THIS game first. You're the one telling everybody not to get excited over a loss, or two or five or nine, yet you can't wait to post your "I told you so" after ONE PERIOD. |

In this situation: H player A 2 minute minor, H player B two 2-minute minors, R player 2 minute minor, H captain has choice.

Gotta be careful. Remember the Calgary game our cup year. The rangers are one of the top teams for a reason, can't let up. - Walky
Not banking anything yet, but if you remember Madden scored at the end of the 1st and that absolutely changed the momentum of that game. |

One period.
Hawks not only need to win, but need to play well for the rest of the game. |

Let me get this straight: You're asking me to be patient? If you ask me that goes both ways. The sky is not falling with every loss and the Cup is not won with a fantastic period. If all the nay-sayers are ready to trade everyone after a bad pass or bad play, then I think the rest of us can credit the team on a good effort last game in NSH and a great effort in period 1 of this game.
I never said I told you so did I? The point is a team doesn't come out with this type of effort, especially on the PK, if their coach has "lost" them. That's all I was getting at. |

I don't trust the Hawks to play 60 min.
I'll believe when the final horn sounds...and the Hawks actually have a lead. |

still goin from last night................molly, philco were you at?
BULL phuckin s h i t ! on all the scott bashers! i'll kill that penalty any time! in recent games the ranger toughies came out and challenged the opposing teams toughies right off the hop! the rangers play tough and hard! i WISH the hawks played that way every night!
scott knew exactly what he was doing figuring the rangers where going to try to "get their team going" (oh my god some of you sally's!, a fighht?)
scott was on the ice later in the period and not 1 of the ranger sherriffs wanted to pursue the issue! but guarantee you if that was shaw or carcillo or even mayers, 1 of them would have took issue and wanted to go! yeah scott is not a good skater, but he did what he was supposed to do!! be careful what you wish for!
with that being said, would gausted, roy & kubina be just what we need?
and with all the hitting going on tonite.............nick leddy is still a p u s s s s yyy !
and who did the flyers give up for grossman? |

Better not get tripped on a breakaway and slide into the goal, thats goalie interference now. He wasn't tripped but the defender did get him off balance and he was falling down, no way to stop yourself there. The defender even fell on Viks skate, how do you stop with a guy on your skate?
This is like goalie interference in NHL 12 |

I don't either--that Minnesota game during the Cup year comes to mind . . . . Even if there really is no connection. If the Rangers get the next goal . . . . |
