Eberle plays like one... but he was 22nd.
I dont think its crazy to think they can get the 3 of them signed long term for 18-20 mill.
Which leaves a little money for other players.... - robin_steele264
Probably more important re: contract negotiations then when he was picked. |

Absolutely. But will the Oilers be able to afford all of these guys plus all the other pieces it takes to win the cup? I agree they have a great and deep forward talent pool but are lacking on the defensive side of things. I am not sure what their goaltending looks like after Dubnyk.
If I am in the Oilers management I would be looking to move one of these forward pieces for some solid defensive depth sooner rather than later. In a couple of years it will be too late. - Kinger34
Im seriously not worried about the cap at all.
Oilers have tonnes of cap space, and are willing to spend to the limit to build a winner.
Id much rather move picks to help out the D than move one of the core players they are building around.

I'm starting to open up to the idea of Carter.
His best year as a Flyer he centered a line of Joffrey Lupul and Scott Hartnell. All shooters. I wonder if it would work with Lupul and Kessel. |

Something along the lines of Anaheim's big 3.

Hawks seem to get by with Toews, Kane, Sharpe, Hossa, Keith and Seabrook signed.

The next CBA could have large ramifications (good or bad) for Edmonton. |

sorta like target practice? lol
problem is, unlike you, some people let the trolls get to them and it can get messy - Dozzer
i spose...leafman never let any shenanigans go on whatsoever, and quite honestly, it needs an injection of idiocy once in awhile to get things fired up......this recent whiskey-tango asshat is just another in a long line of dolts who won't last long because they get beat down so badly or better yet, ignored.

Well here's hoping. I'm a Leafs fan but I do like to see Canadian teams suceed (Habs and Senators aside). Edmonton has had a rough go of things for several years. It would be great to see them enjoy some success. |

Slow rebuild... pressure is on management to reward the fanbase with a winner for all their patience.

i like the idea a helluva lot better than nash.
my stipulation-NOT at the expense of grabovski.
carter is just as effective on the left side, so perhaps he might fit there with kulemin and grabovski....on paper, it doesn't sound right, but you never know. |

He is a guy who's had Selke nominations, brings a bigger body (though not a mean guy), and can score like nobody's business.
Worth at least exploring.
If they're willing to take back a bit of Salary (Connolly, Komisarek, Lombardi?) and some pieces like Aulie/Kadri... might be something to think about. |

People seem to have a disconnect - he signed that long contract as a way to circumvent the salary cap (that's what Burkie hates). So he's a bargain, cap-wise.
He won't show up for the last three years of his contract, and if he does, we can just bury him in the A. According to HNIC, he no longer has a NTC.
If the price is right, let's get him. |
