York Newbury: Canucks’ Off-season Continues - York Newbury
Thanks NYN, appreciate the effort to put something together, I see your ban has been rescinded as well.
I hope management can bolster the forwards by training camp, wouldn’t mind Joshua moving on, and to a lesser extent Blueger, additions are needed. |

McTavish would be a great add if they could find a way to get him. Could easily become a 2C for this team |

He and Makita deserve much gratitude for their role here.
Perhaps a HockeyBuzz Ring of Honour should be considered? |

I don't think we have the assets for Mactavish. And it would be too difficult to move the money for his contract. We will rely on Chytil staying healthy and/pr raty stepping up. We will have one of the best bottom 6's the league has seen in a long time though |

McTavish would be great. Would cost Willander, 2026 1st, plus something else. Massively steep and I don’t think the Canucks’ prospect pool is deep enough to handle that.
Hopefully Chytil can stay healthy and some other young center will shake out as the year goes on. |

I think Cootes in 2-3 years will make an excellent 2c. The issue will be whether or not Hughes sticks around. He will have an opportunity to sign one of the last 8 year contracts allowed next summer. Maybe those extra 2 years (UFA will be 6 max) will help entice him to stay over going to NJD. Otherwise trade him next summer. Can't lose him for nothing and NJD will pay to offer 8 years over 7/6.
EDIT: I also realized if Hughes signs here long term, Jack will be 3 years to UFA and Luke could be as little as 2 if he signs a 4 year this year. Wishful thinking, but maybe we see all 3 here in Vancouver. |

I see EK has a piece about Kuznetsov for really cheap, any thoughts or too risky given his past? |

That would be a pass from me.
Ruskies rarely seem to work here.
I’ve seen Kadri’s name floating out there.
He’s a bit long in the tooth, but would make a pretty decent 2c if he didn’t cost a fortune. |

Moving an expensive bottom 6 winger, that we have an excess of to make cap space to sign or trade for a centre that we need?
Similar to trading Šilovs. We’re deep with goalies. Get an asset and improve the team.
I mean, I liked Joshua (at least the version a couple years ago), but he underperformed last season and we have a glut of young forwards that can hopefully take his spot in the cheap. Ie karlsson |

In what way? We cut loose two excess players, cleared out cap space and gained 2 draft picks
Lets Be honest - Dak was horrible - a shell of the player he was for ONE season. And even that version of him wasn't the big bad power forward that everyone making him out to be.
Promote from within or go FA late summer bargain hunting.
Not sure Roslovic is the answer but I'm assuming his cost is declining considering we're halfway through July and he's still unsigned. He's a big right shot centre with speed, good on the dot, and pretty much replaces Suters productivity.
"His top speed during that postseason was 22.55 mph, with only Martin Necas (23.84 mph) exceeding him on the radar gun among Carolina Hurricanes forwards."
Or maybe they got something bigger up their sleeves?? |

I think Joshua is going to rebound this year, but given his contract and the amount of bottom 6 players the Canucks had, he was the most likely to be dealt. Hopefully Karlsson, Sasson, or Bains can provide some speed and scoring to the lineup in replacement.
But I definitely think Roslovic is their target for UFA now, or maybe this opens up something bigger trading for an RFA kid. |
