When your statistically better goalie has a 2.88 GAA and a .878 SV% in the finals, you deserve to lose and you will lose. I do feel bad for McDavid; another wasted year because your joke management thinks you only need one good d-man and the rest can be secretly a forward at heart, a overpaid pylon, and a bunch of other mystery names; and that goaltending is optional, despite literally everybody in the hockey world telling you your D and goaltending sucks. If he chooses to re-sign there (which, now that Draisitl has, I'm sure he will), he deserves every non-championship he gets. That the last memory Kane will have of this final is getting tossed for being a general asswad and Tkachuk of all people - Tkachuk! - knowing he wasn't worth his time is just chef's kiss.

Thrilled for Reinhart. He's probably the only ex-Sabre who I have absolutely zero malice for. Went from being a slightly misused talent on a team that refused to commit to him (Murray was the most damaging GM the Sabres have ever had don't @ me) to a team that values him, while keeping his head high and refusing to dunk on the old team.

Literally never thought I'd say this, but also happy for Marchand. I felt he cleaned his act up massively in the playoffs and was rewarded with the stats bump.

No one was beating the Panthers this year. They were better and deeper than the Oilers. Oilers got nothing from their bottom six, just like Tampa, Toronto and Carolina, as the Panthers overwhelmed all those teams. Oilers certainly didnt choke...Panthers were built better and delivered.

Skinner has played his last game in Edmonton. They can't bring him back...have to make a change there, whether or not it is deserved. Gibson and a player for Skinner and Kane? Demko? Binnington? No many goalies out there. Also....if I'm Ekblad, Marchand and Bennett I sign in FLA for another year - one year only - to try to win another cup. Then cash in when the cap rises more next year and there are WAY more teams with cap space. But Marchand specific....if people are talking 3 x 8 for him on next contract, why doesn't FLA go the TB route and sign him long term for the same total money to bring donw the AAV. Like 7 x 3million. Gets the AAV down and he gets more money overall and without state tax for a longer period
