They always claimed to be playing the same system, but if you watch the Phantoms play it’s very different game. Having two different systems is really counter-productive to moving guys up from the AHL into the big league.

When Tortorella meant with Laperriere, he told him, “It’s your call with the way you go.’ Because I want them to win, also.”
In the AHL regular season Laperriere finished 5 of 8, 6 of 8, and 6 of 8 the last 3 years. He's "successful" because 72% of the AHL makes the playoffs.
Remember when Torts was "surprised" at how bad Drysdale was coming from a different defensive system because he doesn't believe in them?
Torts can now be criticized now that he's no longer a Flyer it seems.
Hey, it's great that DB is making all these changes but he should've made these changes long ago. The writing was on the wall for a long time on much of this and people like to pretend that much of what happened hasn't been obvious for a long time (such as the different systems, they were open about it). He's the last guy to the party but if some people want to give him his flowers for finally doing what needed to be done personnel wise, go ahead.
