Some people are surmising that it was the puck to the head that did the damage to Stolarz. After watching how softly he was bumped in the crease I tend to agree.

Intentional shot to the mask.

Yup, take it from a former goaltender, a shot of that magnitude straight to the head will do some damage.

Ok, all my rage and revenge needs aside,

It does not violate the rules to play Reaves.
It does not violate the rules if Reaves is on the ice when Bennett is.
It does not violate the rules if Reaves beats this piss out of Bennett, except for the 5 minute major.
Apparently it doesn't violate the rules for Reaves to run BoB.
Apparently it doesn't violate the rule to try to spear and cross check injury into Marner.

Why can't the Leafs do it too?

Stolarz is injured and potentially out. Thachuk took an obvious run at Marner FFS! It's very clear what Florida's plan is, injure opposition players all the way to the Cup.

League won't do anything. Why shouldn't the Leafs protect their players???

PS...shot to the mask didn't even bend the grill, the broadcast showed Stolarz checking it. Maybe a combo of both, sure, fine, maybe... but an elbow to the head shouldn't be ignored nor should the Thachuk/Marner incident.

Eye for an eye. Run Bob and (frank) up some of their players. Period.

Very convenient. So soft those elbows in the head. Like a light breeze whispering on the meadows.

One of the worst case scenarios for concussions is having multiple concussions in a short period of time.

What you are thinking makes perfect sense however I would add that perhaps the puck to the head gave him a minor concussion and he decided to continue playing because it's the playoffs and he's a goalie who has probably faced 1000 shots off the mask before. Then, the elbow to the head, gave him a second concussion in such a short period of time that now he has a much more severe concussion.

It's also possible that the elbow gave him whiplash which has similar symptoms to a concussion including nausea and throwing up. It happened to Crosby where he had two concussions very close to one another and he found out way later that it was actually a neck injury making his symptoms worse.

Whiplash is a major contributor to concussions. When the head and neck move quickly back and forth, the brain sloshes around (a medical term) in the head

We’ll probably be using our third stringer before the series ends. It’s the leafy way.

How about everyone stop being DRs. DRs can't even diagnose which could have caused this.

The fact stolarz took a puck to the mask does not even in the slightest take away the fact Bennett elbowed him in the head that resulted in injury.

It was a disgusting play from a player with a clear history of doing so.

But whatever Leafs will move on and so should the fans going into next game.

they (pucks to helmet) rattle but don't typically concuss, it happens but it's uncommon

little bops to the back or side of the head are more likely to cause a concussion. doesn't take much if you hit the right spot (that's what she said)

The fanbase want vengeance. I get it. However, that price could cost them the series. Take a 5 and a game and the powerplay could kill you. The best thing to do is just outplay them and beat them on the scoreboard. If you get far behind in a game, or way ahead, have at it. Dressing Reaves is a mistake. It's going to be a 4 line game and we can't afford to have a player that can't keep up to the play.

Leafs have an opportunity to play for the Cup. Defeat Florida and you've got a very good chance to play for the Cup. Watching Carolina and Washington, it's a cut below from what I witnessed last night. Carolina just shoots the puck and hope for a break. Washington looks slower and tries to gut out a goal here and there. Neither one of these teams have stellar goaltending. To the Leafs, just win. That is all.

Absolutely. That needs to be the only focus.

The thing is, the Steve Moore situation is going to happen again. As long as the league refuses to protect its stars and encourages dangerous play, someone is going to get intentionally, seriously hurt.
