The biggest surprise will be:
Woll. He's going to be forced into playing a lot at some point this season. His frame and his style give him a shot to be a big surprise. But he's young and unproven so as always, the Leafs lack of D in front of him will make his life very, very difficult.
The biggest disappointment will be:
Bad coaching combined with the Leafs inability to prevent goals against from a lack of shutdown forwards to weak D to unproven / injured goaltending.
If you remember nothing else I said, remember I said this about the 2023-24 Leafs:
Same story as the past 5 years, lots of goals for, lots of goals against and dubious odds of playoff success because the Leafs are slowly but surely becoming the San Jose Sharks; regular season darlings and playoff busts. |

Edmonton's owner and GM should be arrested.
Seriously.
Or, alternately, McDavid should demand a trade or threaten such a demand.
It is (frank)ing criminal to waste the best player in modern history like this.

He's in the 3rd round again and have been eliminated twice by the eventual cup winners.
Its not like they keep losing in the 1st round.
The campbell contract has really hurt them.
Same with overpaying nurse. |

It ain't over yet. Tight series. Stars are winning by staying out of the box. |

True.
Just imagine how many cups they might have already if they had a slightly better than league average goalie. If they had an elite goalie, the whole league would be in trouble.
If you Google up the goalies that McDavid has played in front of during his career, it's not an illustrious list. It resembles a parade of fail.

Never bet against Jesus. He might turn water into wine yet, and then drink that wine from the holiest grail of them all, the Stanley Cup.

Joseph Woll:in Woll we trust
Jake McCabe:great value
David Kampf:overpaid 4C
Sam Lafferty: will get traded to Van for a 5th

I really like this one of mine:
Auston Matthews: Another season where he doesn't really give 100% - just drafting off the pack, ready to attack the finish line at the end (it's a running analogy for hockey - meaning he won't give 100% until the playoffs).

Agreed
Edmonton has one more year to get it right, cause drysaddle's cap will be going up and i doubt he stays unless he knows mcjesus is staying and they get to the finals. |

McJesus is in a unique position as a player in terms of leverage. Everyone in the league knows he is the best player to suit up since Gretzky or Lemieux. His stats would be obscenely-higher if he had been playing for a true contender all of these years.
If I was him, I wouldn't hesitate to test the free agent market when my parole date from Edmonton came up. In another two years, the cap should be high enough for several teams to make a play for him.....including....wait for it......the Leafs! (*heads explode!*)

Does Edmonton have to trade L.D. this summer if he doesn't sign an extension? I kind of feel like they have to make a decision on him this summer. Offer him wads of cash and if he says no then they know he ain't staying and it's time to work on a trade. |
