“You just don’t know game to game how it’s gonna be called, what’s gonna transpire,” he said. “So I don’t really know what to say on that. We could see 10 tonight. We just gotta be ready either way.”
- Rod Brind'amour on the how the refs have been in the playoffs so far.
This, to me, has been the biggest problem as far as refs go. |

Sounds like the communication between #NYR coach Peter Laviolette and Matt Rempe has been real positive:

I would love nothing more. You think Ruff was bad? Wait until you see one of those two. |

Mercogliano expanded on on it:
It would also be the second straight game missed for Rempe, who doesn't seem blindsided by the scratches or letting them diminish his usual upbeat demeanor.
"I can't say enough good things about Lavi and how great he's been to me and the opportunities he's given me and how much communication he's having every single day," the 21-year-old rookie said. "I love him. I’d go to war for him every single day. He's the best, and his conversations with me have been great. He’s just telling me, ‘Don't read into it. Don't think too much,' and stuff like that. 'Just keep working.'" |

This is the quote from Brodzinski in the same column today:
Brodzinski didn't find out he was playing until the day of Game 4, but credited Laviolette and the coaching staff for keeping all the extra skaters ready.
"It's kind of hard to stay engaged mentally because it's so easy to become detached, just from being out for so long," he said. "But at a moment's notice, Fil gets sick, and then they put me in. Within a couple of hours, it was, ‘Hey, you’re in the lineup.’
"I was ready, just because of these skates. We've been doing a lot of battle drills, one-on-ones, two-on-ones – just game day stuff that we haven't really done in the past. I feel like it's just been extremely helpful and keeps that mental sharpness." |

The guys that were here couldn't say enough good things about Lavi, especially in the playoffs. They always lauded him and his ability to make them feel like they were important no matter what role they played. They never felt like there was a game they couldn't win. |

Yeah, last 3 games Carolina came out strong. Good thing about the Rangers they don't seem to get rattled, but 100% agree they need a really strong 1st |

I don't know if he's doing anything ground breaking, but the bar so low here that anything more than almost nothing was going to go over well. |

Back in the old 1 ref days I only cared for a few refs, Rob Schick, Don Van Massenhoven, F it even Kerry Frasur was good, Bill McCreary
I still remember the Game 7 94 Finals pairing of Terry Gregson with linesmen Kevin (Im still calling an icing) Collins & Ray Scappinello |

That's cool, one more old name popped in there. Don Koharski, infamously Jim Schoenfeld called him a fat pig "Go eat another DOO-NUT" in that Canadian accent |

My best friend's father was close with Gregson before he quit teaching and made the reffing big time. Terry came to my friend's (1st) wedding in 1999, about a month after Dallas beat Buffalo for their Cup.
I have an incredible picture of my wife and another girl on either side of Gregson. Just as the picture was about to be taken, both girls threw their arms out and yelled "NO GOAL!!!!"
He got a kick out of that (I think!). |
