"Losing the series is just a formality. The players are soft, gutless, and clearly don't care enough. The coach is an idiot and should be fired on the spot. The GM is an even bigger idiot for the roster he constructed. Everything need to be torn down."
Yeah. But it has been EVERY FREAKING YEAR since Ramses was pharaoh.
It's not a one-off.

One thing I can say with certainty...the Avs will NOT be trying to wrap up their series tonight. Unless the Buzztron has that series a best of 5. |

The Leafs are done, they're a poorly constructed roster for the playoffs and everyone except the Leaf faithful knew that. Their money is spread-out poorly and they need a complete overhaul, I'm kind of enjoying their failure though, truth be told. I hate the Leafs! |

Nice try blogger. We are talking the Leafs here! It’s the same all the time. Nothing changes, for years this core has been crap. But now, on this occasion, it will be different! Yeah ok! The only reason the Leafs win game five…..the only reason, would be so that they can lose the series on home ice instead of on the road. |

You say Colorado can wrap up a series they lead 2-1 tonight in a best of 7 series. Interesting. |

Well now you look like one also.
Tre has one hand tied behind his back when he took over from Dubas.

But the even numbered games tell us how long a series will last.

When the Flyers came back from down 0-3, it had a lot to do with Krejci getting hurt late in game 3 and then Gagne coming back in game 4. Flyers had been depleted by injuries coming out of the NJ series and were getting healthier while Krejci was done for the series. |

So the reason not to assume the Leafs are finished is because of that one time in 2010, and a random baseball series?
Seems far more common that when one team totally dominates the other and has a 3-1 series lead, it's actually quite normal to talk about the series being over.
Also helps to watch the games. If Boston was just lucky and Toronto had outplayed them, then sure, Boston is very fortunate to be up 3-1. It could easily be 2-2 or 3-1 the other way. I've seen plenty of situations like that and am careful not to consider a comeback. This series is not the case. Thanks for the words of caution though. |

The incident on the bench indicated a fragmented team that isn’t a team. The whole problem can be defined by everything around Matthews and getting to 70. He is and was ill and should have been rested. McDavid took several days off for team and getting ready for the playoffs. The team was more important than the scoring title. Yet with the Leafs it was about Matthews.
I don’t see team unity with the Leafs. Too many self-focused stars and no balance or team identity. If Matthews is so wonderful where is his leadership? I just don’t see it, especially in the playoffs! |

Leafs lost their last 4 games of the year while they were obsessed with Matthews getting 70. Even game 82, guys were passing up scoring chances to try and set up Matthews, who had like 12 shots on net. Bad coaching. Bad leadership. They should have been preparing for the playoffs. Do you think a coach like Bowman and a leader like Yzerman would finish a season focused on some individual achievement?

Leafs will likely win the next game but have zero chance of winning this series.. Too many flaws in the team and the coach. |
