2 points and Washington losing were the most important things tonight. Giving Detroit a point sucks, but at the end of the day, 3 teams are only 1 behind us. Its up to us to keep it up. 1 loss from here could end us.
Rangers are falling off a cliff. Worst case would be they drop to #2 in east and we get stuck with Boston. |

So, in the last 10 games that they've gone 7-0-3 and for a lot of those games I would be thinking to myself "wow, they look like an actual playoff ready team that could maybe do damage". However, the last two games I have not thought that at all for the most part. Lots of slop, dumb decisions and a lack of cohesiveness. |

That's not surprising, since they've been playing playoff hockey for the better part of a month straight. They're likely gassed. Just gotta bear down for 3 more.
The craziest thing is that, if the Penguins loses even in OT, the Flyers last game of the year vs. Washington could be the difference in whether the Pens or Caps make it. |

Yeah for sure and there's also been a really bad bug in the locker room. Bugs/contagions treat everyone different but most people at least get zapped a bit of energy from them, at least. Could also be a factor.

Feel like Jarry is gonna get this start... Alex has given up 12 goals in his last 3 games, with multiple OT games... hes gotta be feeling a bit gassed.
Just a hunch |

I thought Jarry was the right move for the Leafs game...had thoughts it should have been Jarry last night at times. Ned has never really been a starter, has he? Without looking I feel like this might be one of his longest stretches of play in the league? and these games have been wars hahaha not easy. He's stood on his head at times.
EDIT: this is his most starts in a season besides 59 with the Wings a few years back. No idea if he ever started 10 or 11 in a row with Wings though. |

There's so much LUV for the CHEF here... it's great to see all the naysayers stepping up and admitting they may have been a tad overly critical of his 8 minutes TOI. |

A real man would reach down his throat, pull out the germs, go weld some poop because, eat a sandwich, make love to 20 women, and score 5 goals. |

2023/2024 TOI per game is 12:32...only down 70 seconds from season before. Only 9:16 TOI at 5 on 5 but finds himself -6. Of Penguins forwards to have played more than 100 mins of 5 on 5 this season (18 in total) he is:
15th in xGF%
15th in SCF%
16th in HDCF%
16th in CF%
When he missed a few games, a few weeks back, the 4th line actually looked dangerous for the first time in a few years.
Having said all of that I was really happy for him to get that goal last night. That goal should have meant a lot more than it ended up meaning last night. Should have been the winner. I like BJC as a human and respect his career.
Pretty cool he ended up being only 1 of 25 players in history to have 19 double digit goal seasons though. |

I leaned towards wanting that. I feel as though the two picks (this years or next's)will be close in proximity, anyway. This way though we wont be hearing about it all the time around here hahaha...

Sid got his 1000th assist and moved into 10th all time in points, so those are done. Now he only needs hat tricks in the last 3 games to hit 600 career goals. Shouldn't be a problem. |

Its actually fairly common for teams that are definitely not making playoffs to start playing great at the end of a season. They're all loose as a goose and having fun potentially playing the part of the spoiler. Plus Lil Marty does a good job firing them up, anyway. |

Agreed, plus DET has TOR in their other remaining game. The Craps have TB, BOS, PHI. I've been saying for the past week that 90 points makes it but now I'm thinking 89 will be enough. |

Agree. It was a nice goal and possibly the last big moment and milestone in a great career. But he's still pretty cooked. |

This is a little good for him, but also how bad has the Pens farm system been.
DOC is the first forward to come through the system since Guentzel, Rust, and Sheary did it around the Cup years to reach 15 goals. Or 30 points. |

Yeah I feel like I've seen him not score on like 8 of those breakaways this year, good to see it finally go in, at a big time lol

Sitting in the weeds? I probably post and comment around here more than anyone else hahaha...and I ain't no tinman, have a medium to large sized Canadian heart.
The statement you quoted from me is absolutely true, though. I think your feelings are getting in the way of seeing things subjectively. |
