Not one team in the league would take that contract without LA giving up major assets and probably retaining. |

This organization won’t touch him even if he was for free! Those days are over! |

And LA ain't retaining for the next 8 years so PLD ain't going anywhere. Not that anyone thought he would with EK tossing something so asinine out there. Guy JUST signed his extention this year. Has complete NTC starting next season . |

They will never take on that salary………Hughes would have to be on some serious drugs to pull that trigger………..Gally 6.5 x 4 more years, PLD 8.5 X8 YEARS!!!!!! Thinking about it makes me want to take up drinking….. |

I did find it bizarre that Dubois has zero trade protections in his first season on that contract. Almost as if Blake wanted to leave an out option available. |

but the contract is such a titanic....what's the out exactly. I'm not questioning your logic here, more Blake's. Did he seriously think if the kid didn't perform (and he hasn't) that he'd be able some how hide the iceberg that's coming? |

I'm sure Blake never considered Dubois being this ineffective or he wouldn't have traded for him in the first place. But plenty of blame rests on Blake's decision to get a superfluous player. I never really understood the interest behind him as Danault and Kopitar are superior centers. Maybe in the future Dubois takes one of those roles, but he isn't nearly as well rounded as those two and is wasted as a 3C on that contract. Makes no sense. |

I was looking at this and thinking, didn't the Kings just sign this guy to a max-term deal? at a relatively high number? and now they're trying to move him? doesn't make sense.

He's possibly the most toxic player in the NHL. No team with serious aspirations of winning the cup would dare input this clown into their locker room. Not many players in history have been this selfish and disruptive. LA should absolutely find a way to unload him, but are there any other new GMs out there willing to ruin their career by trying to hit a home run with a marshmallow stick? for what...a FOURTH TIME!?! |

Not eligible until July 1st ... Only players that are 27 or older or have 7 accrued seasons are eligible for No Trade or No Movement clauses ... he turns 26 in June and this will be his 7th accrued season |

I'll take Dubois if you include Byfield, Turcotte, and a #1. So yes, he is available. |

To LA:
Toffoli (50% retained)
Palat
To NJ:
PLD
This way NJ can keep Jack on the wing and get Haula off the top 6 while getting rid of a contract that isn't the best and LA gets to get out of PLD contract (longer and bigger than Palat) while bringing in two players who are "Playoff Players" |

What on earth would possess another GM to take on 7 more years at 8.5mmAAV? Even the attraction of losing a contract and a pick and/or prospect(s) from LAK wouldn't move the needle. Plus, what's Blake's motivation? This is a highly unlikely move he'd have to consider. If it got out that he made calls to determine a market for PL, it would filter to PL and it would be an admission the deal failed. |

You are wondering the same thing us Kings have been wondering when he traded for him and signed him to that insane contract. Makes 0 sense and has been a huge waste of money. The package the Kings gave up for him could have gotten them at least a legit top 6 forward who can score or a long term good/great goalie which they really needed.
