Totally disagree ... this team just beat Carolina and Vegas back to back! And the Flyers young players are progressing well. This is a good team folks! Anyone bashing Torts is just embarrassing themselves at this point. He's not perfect, no coach is, but Torts has set a new standard here and this is a fun team to watch and root for!
- jd250

This changes nothing about Torts. Nothing.

what new standard has he set here? I also do not think they are fun team to watch. Very bland.

Just think when RR and Staal come back how good they will. Then add in Brink. Def buyers at the deadline.

Glad the Flyers keep winning. Letā€™s test managementā€™s mettle. Although we already know the answer. And itā€™s Low T Briere caving to GM Tortorella.

I donā€™t think this team is bland. I think they are playing well right now. Iā€™m not anointing them a solid playoff team. There are bound to be lows and multiple losses.
The d corp is still suspect. 2 goals on the pp doesnā€™t mean they turned a corner.
Iā€™d rather they had a different coach. I donā€™t like his lineup decisions at all.
In saying that Torts has them playing good at this moment.
The biggest thing this team needs is DB to be smart and not think they are a contender and make ill advised trades.

There's the buzzword of standard. Got that from the press conference, right? The goal is to build a Cup team. The Flyers aren't rebuilding, confirmed by Tortorella. Poehling got the 2nd most 5 on 5 ice time among Flyers forwards. He's young, does that count?

Tippet
Farabee
Cates
Frost
York
Zamula
Foerster
Brink

Which of the young players out of that list do you think is having a really strong season?

In the process of building a playoff bubble team. Trying to win, not rebuild. They owe that to the players in the room. Have to set a standard of winning.

Iā€™d love for the flyers to get another top 5 pick.
Iā€™m not seeing that scenario this year unless Briere trades who he can for a decent return.
Then by default they may lose more games because they donā€™t have a deep roster.
If that helps the team build a perennial contender then great.
In the meantime Iā€™m happy for the players that they are finding some success. Some of the young guys may be better for it in the long run.
Brink should be in tomorrow. I donā€™t care if the flyers won today. Brink is better than a handful of players.
Players donā€™t improve sitting multiple stretches of games.

Agreed. #freebrink.

Winning is always good. If they are out of the playoffs by the trade deadline, trade anyone not under 24-25 if there is a good return.

Thata fine to disagree. I feel like Torts likes a north south game and it can take away a lot of the creativity of skilled players. And having young guys like frost and Brink on the bench isn't helpful. If he won't play Brink then send him down to keep playijg and get more minutes. Recall him qhwn necessary. The fact that Cates hasn't been benched shows his questionable decision making.
Plus as I stated before, this style of play is eventually going to cause some injuries. It's not sustainable for an entire season, barring an act of God

Johnny walker with the response.

Thomspon is playing great today or we could be up a few.

Walker keeps playing his way into an extension

Phoeling is the new Cates, Torts pet. I could not put my finger on why he was not better, size, can skater etc. Today it hit me, he has a terrible stick, maybe hands or maybe something that will get better, but he has a weak stick

Fully expect Frost to sit soon

Had fun watching the game and rooting for them to win

Flip side is he will have several suitors. Some of which may be contending teams. Maybe he isn't all that keen on an ext at this time as free agents usually get over paid

Poor danny wont know what to do then if they are in the playoff race.

Me neither then again the Stephenson penalty shouldn't have been a major

I agree the cross check was not, but os his heading hitting the bar, as a result of the cross check allowed to be part of the call

Has TK's creativity been stifled? How about Tippet's? Has Frost not made a ton of really slick passes in the ozone in recent games? From what I see, the creativity is not in chains. The only thing holding the Flyers back in creativity is not the coach, but the lack of elite talent in the lineup.

Poehling is the same age is Tippet, Frost and Cates BTW! I'll answer this question in April, not after 17 games.

yet you have a coach/gm1 who actively wants to dress Nd GH and Poehlig.

Frost will be scratched tomorrow after taking that penalty. Zamula also out for Staal.

This is a shooting gallery out here so far. Some bad turnovers by Frost, all Flyers need to start moving their feet, look flat footed out there, Hathaway bringing it

I guess Phrost needs to sit for an extended period again- he did not contribute offensively

It is actually May the 4th in the Flyers WFC alternate universe today.

"Ours is not to reason why, ours is but do and die"... Please take your GenX Poster and move along.

It seems obvious to me that the Flyers have been targeting the Next Generation of late... as we Boomers are dying off, and the money is now there. Just wait... It'll only be a matter of time until they have Zombie Apocalypse Day in the not too distant future. Just a thought.

I prefer to think of that as Cinco de Cuatro
