Seems like there's a real chance it's Lee. He's been paired with Pageau a lot so far, including last night.
Speaking of pairings, here's tonight's expected lineup:
Projected Lines:
Simon Holmstrom-Bo Horvat-Mathew Barzal
Eetu Liukas-Karson Kuhlman-Oliver Wahlstrom
Ruslan Iskhakov-Casey Cizikas-Julien Gauthier
Dmytro Timashov-Brian Pinho-Matt Martin
Adam Pelech-Noah Dobson
Dennis Cholowski-Robin Salo
Travis Mitchell-Paul LaDue
Ilya Sorokin
Ken Appleby

I could see Pageau and Lee working. |

Bullpoop. Lee didn’t construct this roster, nor does he have any say when it comes to personnel. Making him the sacrificial lamb would be both pointless and foolish.
Varly was crap last night, but it’s preseason so… *shrugs*. Lots of rust on the rest of the regulars as well. Not surprising.
Dufour has really taken his game up a notch! He was certainly faster than last year. - Wildschwein
Lee to me comes off as a good captain. Seems like a great leader from whatever I can see. He just needs to be a better player. Don’t get me wrong I don’t think he’s terrible (28 goals isn’t terrible especially on this team)like some do he just needs to show up more when it matters. Guy wasn’t visible for long stretches. |

I agree. I think Lee is a good captain and it's more about coming through in big spots.

This is a fair take.
And yeah, a Lee/Pageau combo could be viable. Maybe it’s just the way those two play. |

If you're going to compare them to Vegas as a veteran team, need to say we have good solid goaltending but Vegas proved they have more organizational depth. We have a solid d corp but once again Vegas has depth. Barzy and Horvat are our top forwards but not comparable to Eichel unless Barzy puts up the big numbers and Horvat matches his output he had before the trade. I credit Lou with letting Bailey go and Parise staying away opens up the opportunity. |

All of them. This team is the definition of mediocre. The captaincy is the first spot that should be up for grabs. - BringNYIhome

Head coaching position is the most vulnerable if things go south the first couple of months. - Cptmjl
I would have to agree... Not much movement with players will happen now.

Yeah my comment wasn’t a jab at lambert. I’m still unsure how I feel about him as a coach. That in no way means I want the guy fired. I just think Lou will can him real quick if the team doesn’t perform out of the gates. - Cptmjl
Who do you think would be the logical replacement for this situation.

Why does everyone think Simon Holmstrom is the logical wing on the top line? He is not a shooter. |

I would say Quennville if he didn’t try to hide some poor kid getting raped. Nobody really comes to mind but it would have to be a structured, defensive minded coach with our current lineup. You’re not running and gunning this group. |

Yeah sure. If it doesn’t work out we can always call a cab for him. To me, there’s not anybody available that really stands out. |

I think Babcock probably (frank)ed Quenneville out of any future job as an NHL head coach. Teams won't want to look as stupid as the Blue Jackets do for giving Babcock another chance and having it blow up in their face before training camp even started |

I wonder if hockey will go the way of football in terms of looking for the young offensive minded type of coach.

Yeah more then likely it certainly didn’t help Quennville’s cause.
I mean I say this not really knowing exactly how intrusive what Babcock(sounds pretty absurd) did actually was but wtf was he thinking after his past experiences? |

I have no idea, but it sure leads me to believe that he's one hell of an egomaniac and an obtuse individual to think that he could act like that when he's likely under more of a microscope than in the past.
There are so many other ways he could have done something similar to accomplish the same thing he claimed he was doing. "Hey I want to get to know you and about your life, send me 5 pictures that tell me and the team more about you that I can share with everyone". Exact same thing, minus the uncomfortable intrusiveness of having to hand your phone over to your boss without restriction. |

What about the story of him inviting a player over for lunch to then look through his phone and send him home, sans lunch. Lol. What a POS. Mike Commodore was outspoken about him for years. Guess he was right |

Yeah his methodology is obviously completely a skewed. When you factor in his past negative history it’s pretty unbelievable that he wouldn’t stay away from anything like this. With that said it could’ve been an innocent attempt at learning more about the players but his approach was totally off. |

Johan Franzen ("the mule") called Babcock "the worst person [he] had ever met." Babcock keeps getting jobs, because he has that 2008 Red Wings Stanley Cup on his resume, and, I think, an Olympic gold medal to boot. But I suspect it was more a matter of him being in the right place at the right time. |

That kinda behavior won’t fly anymore. The league (and the world) changed. |
