People will say this isn't part of the reason but I would most certainly bet it is.

Tree 100% will be in on him and probably has already had conversations with his agent.

Why announce Nylander at C today? Treliving coaching this team now? Why not let this play out. How does Nylander suddenly discover defensive committment and playing hard on the puck? He's been a cruiser his whole career unfortunately. Players, especially ones this far into their career, don't typically change their spots. Guy is not a 200 ft player, isn't responsible, and is s-o-f-t.
