Karine Hains: In Hainsight: More Moves Coming 48 hours after the Karlsson trade, it’s safe to assume that more moves are coming for the Canadiens, sometimes silence speaks louder than words.

Hains: In Hainsight: More Moves Coming

48 hours after the Karlsson trade, it’s safe to assume that more moves are coming for the Canadiens, sometimes silence speaks louder than words.

While thye cleared the logjam (somewhat) in the forward lines, they just created a big logjam on defence and in net, so it seems obvious more moves are coming.

If HuGo can get anything for Petry and / or DeSmith (or Allen), this trade is a massive win for the Habs in getting rid of Hoffman and opening space for kids.

I saw some people putting Newhook with Suzuki and Caufield...that line would have tons of speed but they are small. I still think Anderson starts the season with Caufield and Suzuki, with a second line made of Slafkovsky-Dach-Monahan. Newhook starts on the 3rd line with some PP time.

-Stinger

I dont think Slaf is second line yet... let see if he can be on the 3rd even... no worries, but he only 19

I think Monahan is on the first, then Dach center Anderson and its RHP spot to loose at the begining of the season.

Newhook center Gally and Slaf on the 3rd

agreed, we can very easily find 6 forwards better than Slaf. that will change in a few months/years, but for now he is not top6. he's not ready anyway. even top9 is not that clear.

While I agree re: Slaf based on last year's results, it'll be interesting to see what he looks like coming in to camp. He's done a lot of work on his conditioning, so we *could* see a more dominant performance from him this year. We can hope, eh?

Great blog as always, Karine. If Petry plays for us at all, he'll get a massive heel reaction from the crowd, I think.

I don't think he should.

Petry was a great player for us for 8 years. The fact he wanted to leave because his wife hated the COVID restrictions and that he hated Ducharme (who didn't?) doesn't make me hate him at all.

It was the right time for him to leave a year ago (and the return was pretty damn good!) but if we end up having to play him before finding him a new home, I'm ok with that. He has things he can teach our young defensemen.

He'll be playing in a city where the restrictions were most hated in this province

They didn't worry about covid there. A lot more worse things can be caught there
