He's a rookie, trying to make his way in the NHL. He's not there to confront the coach or get into war of words with the coach. He is there to play hockey. It is stupid to comment when is York going to become a man. I would ask when is Tortorella going to become a man?
- MJL

Should I have said "grow up to be a big boy or an adult". If he is here to play in the NHL then he should have fought harder to start the season in the NHL. Bu instead if sticking up for himself he just took his lumps and went to the AHL.

I would think most coaches would want push back.

Torts is a man, but a man who grew up very different times. Times when not everyone got a participation trophy or coaches have to worry about a player crying or hurting a players feelings.

The Torts hate is ridiculous.

He benched Hayes and everyone freaked out. Danny could only get round six draft pick for him.

He hurt Sanheims feelings by benching him in his home city. Danny couldn't trade him away.

Are you implying that staying in the NHL at the start of the season depended not on his ability as a player but rather how he stood up for himself to the coaches unprofessional push for confrontation? By all accounts he went down to the AHL and played his ass off and worked to get back to the NHL. That's what a big boy and an adult does when given a set back.

I would think most coaches would want push back.

Most coaches want push back on the ice. Not off it.

There is no information that suggests that York did any "crying" nor had his feelings hurt.

It is not hate. It is realizing that not only is Tortorella a badly flawed individual. His tactics both on and off the ice are obsolete and archaic and the NHL game has passed him by.

Erik Karlsson to Pens?? Latest rumor.

Started by Pens fans that think star players still want to go there. That organization is the Titanic just waiting to hit that iceberg!

But Rick Bowness is 3 years older than Torts. So Torts isn't the oldest coach in NHL. 🥳 🎉 🪅

Flyers media core have no guys with balls and nolage like Larry Brooks. So we do not see Torts in the harshest light here.

Pens would have to clear a lot of cap space to get him. 11.5 million, ouch.

No, he has done a few things correct. He pushed out Fletcher and publicly stated that the franchise was unprofessionally run. Even if he contributes to that and did it for selfish reasons.

Sharks have to retain some of Karlsson's salary for some picks, players, for this to work.

had the flyers not wasted over 4 million in free agency maybe they could help broker a deal. Amazing how this bad a team is at the cap pretty much.

Then there is this

Flyers' Prospect Emil Andrae is NHL ready, and Brent Flahr may think the same "To me he's pretty close. If it was my choice he would be here"

doesn't Flahr have a "higher" title than Danny boy?

this quote also tells me he isnt a Torts fan to some degree.

So, in other words, complete nonsense by Tortorella. York should've been on the roster on opening night.
- MJL

Yeah I agree. What a dumb waste of the fist half of the season with York not on the Flyers. Hopefully coach petty will get put on a lead by Danny Briere at some point.

I’m not saying Torts’ methods are right or wrong but you do have to install a certain physical and mental toughness into certain players. Some can handle it, some can’t. Heck, I know movies are just movies but every football movie ever has a coach yelling at his players and grabbing them by the helmet. If this happens, why are hockey players any different? We’ve seen coaches be soft on our players and where has this gotten us? Bill is actually in the room at times and doesn’t seem to have an issue with Torts. The rest of us are just idiots with a cell phone and an option without experience.
