Seeler was scratched five times last season. All were DNDs. Hence, semi-fixture.
- bmeltzer

Come on bill he played 77 games. 94%. That is not a semi fixture.

Most coaches will lean on low-variance vets instead of high-variance kids if given the opportunity. Torts will take it a step further and put guys like Sedlak and MacEwen in the top-six.

We all know that Staal will somehow end up in the top-4 this year. Hathaway is all effort all the time so you know Torts will play him way too many minutes.

Walker, on the other hand, isn't great defensively... so Torts may actually not like him.

I would be completely shocked if Walker isn't a top 6 fixture. Assuming he isn't total garbage.

2 years now removed from injury. It is in their best interest to play him and put him the "position" to succeed so he can be moved later.

- hello it's me 2050

He's like TDA but without the offensive pop.

And LA cap dumping him is also not exactly the biggest endorsement of his usefulness.

In this roster Laczynski is the 13th forward. I'm not counting on any waiver exempt kids making the roster till I see it happen. Not when they have already loaded up on vets and still have three months to sign more.

He is much better than TDA on the defensive end.

He was a consistent 18 minutes+ for the kings for numerous seasons. Not saying he is this great player by any means. Best served on the 3rd pair.

Like I said 2 years removed form injury so maybe he has another gear!!!

It's surprising that Torts didn't bench York on January 2nd when they played in Anaheim.

A couple of omissions. But I honestly think Danny isn’t quite done on the trade front. Perhaps watching Foerster, Brink and Andrae the last few days and seeing where they are at will also give the Flyers a better understanding of some guys that may be moved out. The FA market is winding down and teams will now have a better understanding of what they need and what’s available.

Bill's explanation on York is why I will never be a Torts guy. York succeeded despite Torts, not because of him. Same goes for Frost.

I still there is a chance that Sanheim gets traded before the season starts.

Tortorella manufactured the issue. The faster they get this guy out of there, the better.

I would say 90%

Only in that had Sanheim made it to FA his contract would have probably been in line with what he would get on the open market. Probably too many years, but the cap hit is accurate enough.

A team may see the contract, his age, the future cap going up, and may see it as a reasonable contract.

We shall see.

I don't know if she would have interest but the Flyers should hire Princeton's women's head coach. Very intelligent and knowledgeable. I especially liked her comment about how in a small way, the NHL game was moving towards the women's game in terms of playing defense with stick position and angles on puck carriers. Not that this is relevant but she is cute as hell also and very personable.

Plus it is messed up. York is still a kid, not some 10 year vet, no way he is going to push back against a new coach in his first camp with him. Torts was being a bully here in every way because he had all the power.

Expecting York to stand up for himself is just stupid. It probably goes against everything he was ever taught from midget hockey all the way up to now.

Torts also needs to recognize that but for some reason he didn't, or doesn't care.

Its just stupid.

What about Ellis? Doesn't he have to be on the roster at the beg of the season, which means they would have to bury $6MM until day 2 of the season.
