I’d take a chance on that bumhole!!!

Unless he still insists on filling the Montreal net with pucks???

Then he can go (frank) his hand!!!

I don't know a whole lot about the player, other than in a rather ballsy move he asked Yzerman to get traded, got put on waivers, and wasn't claimed...

edit: oh and also that he was apparently averaging 2 shots on goal per game, which for a supposed goal scorer would indicate he's having serious confidence issues.

Stevie Y is one of the most hard assed GM that gets what he wants in the end usually. Not many GMs win in negotiations with him, so as a player, good luck!! Lol

But I’m sure someone will take him on for a “put your money where your mouth is” contract for 1 year.

Prove yourself asshat

I'm sure St-Louis wouldn't mind being given that challenge, after all we're talking about a player who was drafted 6th overall not so long ago. that obviously doesn't guarantee any NHL success, but surely the kid has some untapped potential left.

For sure! Might be a change of scenery is all the player needs…..although the CHaracter may be missing for what Hughes wants to in-still in the organizational culture and team culture??

But if he’s given a chance and fails, that’s on the player

that's why he's already a red flag, since he was given plenty of opportunities in DET and it never amounted to anything. I get the "change of scenery" thing but if he's a headcase then maybe the habs could do without that poop, for the sake of team culture as you're saying.

Yep. That’s why I highly doubt the Habs will take him on.

Dach and Newhook are worthy gambles because they have the talent, attitude and work ethic to become better player, or have the Character to put their egos aside and grow and develop within a system.

Not an automatic sense of entitlement to be in the lineup or have certain things given to them so they can play.

Earn your ice time with the healthy internal competition that’s being established within the Habs org now!

We don’t need him. Let RHP play for $1.1 million instead

Meh.

As long as Armia, Hoffman and Dvorak are on the team, I pass.

Little room for younger guys already in the system as it is, and I'd hate for someone like RHP or Roy or whomever be sent to the stands or Laval just so to can see if this guy might have something left or another level.

I do not see him as a game breaker, maybe I am wrong (and so is Stevie Y and a lot of other talent evaluators), so why bother?

not sure if he'll score 50 per season regularly, but I'm pretty confident he'll do it at least once, which will be a god damn relief to see for habs fans... #GoalCaufield

Agreed. But, the kid is walking away from a sure 4.5M. The kid seems pretty sure he can succeed elsewhere.

kids unable to make a good self-evaluation of their game are not rare.
one thing is sure, he cleared waivers. so I take it GMs around the league are not that interested.

Completely agree there, but it does not change the fact he is literally giving up a guaranteed 4.5 million dollars. He is backing up his self-evaluation with some serious cheddar.

He cleared waivers primarily because of cost I would guess. Still, there is something not being said......entitled, not a good guy in the room, something....

of course.
a former 6th overall, still young, GMs won't budge because he makes 1.8M if they can have him without losing assets via waivers. imho
