Make a direct swap-- Hell of a buck for Jakob Markstrom. Give both of them a new place to play. |

What about Nick Schmaltz? Rumors bubbles up at the deadline and then crickets. I would LOVE to keep him but with three years left, his contract and age doesn’t line up with when the coyotes are projected to contend (~3 years from now when his deal is up).
Value has to be similar to Konecny. Point per game player, in his prime, with reasonable contract. The only knock is the injury bug tends to hang around him.
But I would love to hear where he would fit and what the value would be.
My guess is a value of somewhere around a mid to late first rounder. Not as high as what debribcat got last year, but maybe better than what Dvorak got the year before? Based on that, Detroit trades #17 for Schmaltz? Seattle trades #20? Colorado trades #27?
Thoughts from the Buzz crowd?

the blackhawks will not be trading assets for players this off season. even with bedard we will be a bottom 5 team in the league. Just like when we had kane and CAT putting up 70 goals a year we were a bottom 7 team in the league. KD is not going to try and cut corners and he is adamant that he does not want long term contracts and Cat is gonig to want a 8 year deal. |

The Jets have to trade PLD, Scheifele. Wheeler and Helly and get the best return for them.
Without Helly they are in trouble.
This team is in more than a retool but a rebuild mode.
Bowness has lost the room when he gave his year end tirade, even though it was a spot on comment.
Unfortunately most of their NHL ready prospects are not very big and they have a head coach that doesn't like playing rookies.
Its going to be a long season. |

Likely losing those players, let’s call it what it is. Rebuild. |

Finally that snoozefest of a gary bowl is over. Either way one of garys pets wins. Vegas was $14 million over the cap with a league high $96.5M cap hit. Where have we seen that before?...
He is A-okay with cheating as long as it serves his agenda and bottom line. Maybe have a team that doesn't cheat win a cup for a change..food for thought
Up and onward to the fun, the draft and free agency

PIT is def more desperate than BUF. But BUF has pieces that WPG would want so I lean to them out of those two. In perfect (and fair) world Hally wouks bring back a Powers but WPG has less leverage as he is a UFA in 1 year and has made it known he won’t be back. Still think Chevy can get a decent package back.
O Rielly is going back to STL if he doesn’t resign with TOR. He’s 33/34 I don’t see how WPG can acquire him and take the position that they are starting someone “new”. They needed to begin the rebuild from the 2023 draft and there’s still some time to do that |
