The Flyers are in a good spot with Hart. If they don't get the deal they think is worthy, they can just keep him.

Hopefully Briere can set off a bidding war.

Some will depend on what teams offer for Hellebuyck.

Bill Meltzer: Provorov Trade Breakdown
- bmeltzer

Bill how do they not get some cap relief? IF Cal is at 5 million and walker 2.65 isn that 7.265? So if Cal is waived doesn’t that bring it down to like 6 million so wouldn’t their be some cap savings?

A brilliant trade by DB and an all around good trade for all teams involved. This was a hockey trade for Columbus, a salary dump for LA (presumably to resign Gavrikov) and a rebuild trade for the Flyers (prospect and draft assets). As a Flyers fan I’m still perplexed (it’s gonna take a lot of getting used to) that this GM thus far says what he means and means what he says. Said “we are in a rebuild” and within a few weeks makes a move that actually reflects that. I found his honesty at the presser to be refreshing as well. He candidly admitted that he knew little to nothing about Grans, but like a true leader depended and relied upon his people. Now the GM and his people have to manage these draft assets well and only time will tell with that but this far the first impressions are good ones.

Exactly. I will reiterate what I have said many times, you do not trade for the sake of trading because that's what you're suppose to do (that's a Chucky move). If the offer is good then you take it, but don't be scared to hold on to Hart.

Nice breath of fresh air that I don't feel the Flyers got taken to the cleaners in a trade. It may not be a home run (if the 2nd rounders were 2023 picks it might be) but definitely a stand-up double. Good first trade for Danny to build off of. Now time to sell high on Hart and TK and see what's out there. Also, it's great that they had LA retain on Provorov and were able to keep their retention slots open. Now they can retain on Hayes and others during the deadline.

For sure. If a good deal isn't there just hang on to him for another year and hope he increases his trade value with his play.

Which at least gives some reinsurance that they were scouting while watching Emil, but the real question is did they play well together?

Rumor on the dark web is that Briere has secretly hired the A-Team to extract Fedetov from Russia.

I do not see a big market for him. The window may be closed.

Hayes is a tough one, I don't think anyone pulls that trade until they know what free agents are available or who gets sacrificed due to cap issues around the league.

I feel Hayes will be on the Flyers this year and hopefully because of an injury a team needs depth.

Like the Provy trade knowing it doesn't help us on ice in 2023-2024. If Petersen returns to form he might be a good #2. $5mil though. Steep.

Interested to see the move with Hart. He's a young #1 goalie. Could Hart plus #7 OR (not AND) #22 move us into top 5? Other pieces involved as needed.

I stop at nothing to get #2 from Ducks. Fantilli is a big center. Much needed. #7 pick does not excite me. Package it to move into top 5 or down to select RHD.

Just curious what others think. If Montreal offered 5 for Hart would you do it. One for one. Player for pick.

5th overall? No F way

If the return for moving Hayes is only shedding salary are you doing that deal?

Briere will see how desperate teams are for a young goalie, he does not have to trade him. I could see a late first and a prospect being offered.

"It could get ugly at times".

It was already ugly last season, especially when Provorov and DeAngelo were on the ice together. Any short term analysis should mention that Provorov wasn't a good penalty killer and was below average defensively at 5on5 in 22-23. He played a lot of minutes, and did poorly in those minutes. Very AMac-esque.

The UFA center narket is not great. Very certain the Flyers will have to retain salary and the return will not be great. However, very confident it will not be a "Ghost trade".

If the deal is a straight salary dump with or without retention for nothing in return then yes I do it, but if it costs the Flyers any type of value asset then nope.

I think Hayes has value, just not 7m value.

Love Hart but the price would have to be realistic and let's be honest, Briere is looking to load up on picks and prospects, don't blame him. Question is would he take a late first and a decent prospect? If the answer is no, MTL is most likely not an option

The unrealistic expectations have begun. As you said, this is not about this year. Indeed, apart from continuing the development of the kids, the Flyers would do well to (and should be expected to) have another down year.

If Cam Atkinson is proven to be healthy, he needs to be high on the list of Flyers to trade for assets. Probably at the trade deadline but a little more difficult since he has another year on his contract.

- Flyers_01

Cam plays well, I could see someone trading for him at the deadline, 1 year is not much, the Flyers could even hold some salary to make that extra year seem less of a concern. Cam can put up 25 goals/ 50 points, there should be a taker.

I should have been more specific. If moving him with 50% salary retention for a low round pick (which is essentially just moving 3.5 million off the books), would that qualify as a solid move for the franchise?

funny, they could trade Hart, yea timeline but they also have depth at the position, figure that, the forever issue is the non-issue. Of course all else is an issue.
