I'm starting to believe Carlsson may fall out of the top 5, which would be stunning. - Trox88
I didn’t think he looked that great at world juniors. Small sample but I wouldn’t be surprised if he dropped |

if one draft is deemed deeper that should have more value to me. - hello it's me 2050
Still, the drop off between 13 to 22 is always significant, even in deeper drafts.
And 2023 is deep but it's not a 2003 or something. |

I would normally agree. And do to a point. But the amount of fluctuation between ranking is significant. I see some mocks where they have a guy in the top ten, then another where he is going in the 20's.
It's so all over the place.

Let’s bookmark this and see next year. Just a reminder, my response was to them not making playoffs. Their fourth overall finish would point to they were fine lmao 😂 what an idiotic post - ClaudeFather
Look deeper into that. Toronto was 9 points from NOT making the playoffs. The East is actually pretty even actually. Assuming tb and Florida remain strong and Boston and Toronto slip some you have a battle of tor Bos buff ott fighting for 3rd spot… metro div blows maybe tor sneaks in as 7/8 seed? Maybe. I can see drop off of at least 10 points for leafs as buf ott det all get better in division. Maybe more. Wouldn’t shock me for them to go around that 90 point mark. And what of Matthews? Does he leave soon? If they can’t sign him do they trade him? |

Ascension of Smith into the top 5. With Michkov attending the draft, I don't see him dropping out of the top 5. Leonard could turn into this year's Gauthier. Even Dvorsky seems to be gaining steam. Just a theory. |

There's a lot of parity between picks 8 to 40-ish, it just comes down to personal bias. I have a feeling that after the top 3-4 guys there will mainly be a lot of middle-six forwards and middle-pair dmen from the 1st-round when is all and said and done. Kind of a high-floor kind of draft. |

don't disagree. i would say risto. less term/money. is what he is, but brings a physical element and has a blast from the point on the PP. if sanhiem has a better year then he would be. - Peter Richards
Sanheim had a poor season last year but he is a much higher value that Ristolainen. Ristolainen's physical element is not a positive. He is not good in coverage in his own zone and for a guy who is supposed to be this physical monster. He is frequently beaten in space around the net. If he can provide some offense, that's probably the only way he can add some value. Sanheim, if he plays as capable, adds puck movement and offense to the team along with reliable defense.

Another mock draft over at the Athletic with Pronman making both picks for the Flyers.
He had Reinbacher at 7 and David Edstrom at 22, for what it's worth. Cristall, Stramel Ritchie, Brindley still on the board. |

solid read. Also need to take into consideration what I said about TK. At some point does Hart want to win or waste his prime in a Gibson kind of way? No guarantee he re-ups. Though cant fault anyone for takin the cash when offered.
I also think he may fold a little in a huge hockey market like Toronto.

I agree with this.
The top 4 this year is ridiculous then the draft starts becoming like previous drafts which makes it deep.

Off topic, but loosely sport related:
CVS tweeted that Philadelphia has the worst air quality in the US right now. Someone responded: "Finally, the championship!"

Pronman tends to like to raise players up the rank while pushing others down that should not. I guess he does it to stand out and be different so one of the times he can proclaim "I got one no one else did!!". I don't like his reasoning for these moves either.
I remember he had Makar ranked #19 in 2017 with other defensemen above him. Always thought it was wacky at the time and in retrospect looks downright stupid now.

Heiskanen #8
Pettersson #17
Makar at #18
Suffice to say his mocks don't usually age well. |

He did that last year by being the first (IIRC) analyst to have Slafkovsky going first and Wright falling to 4. Of course, he ended up being right and I'm sure he was insufferable on Twitter about it. |

the question wasn't about value, it was who would be easier to move.

The value that a player adds to the ice isn't a factor in who would be easier to trade?
