They DO have the cap space, especially if the Flyers retain. He would become their highest scoring center and second leading scorer using last year's stats.
Hey, you never know.
I would have no idea what to expect in return. - MBFlyerfan
Folks on here acting like we are trading a corpse. He’s still a decent player. If we retained some salary I could see a small return |

Yeah, maybe one of their 3rd or 4th round picks from this year or a 3rd from 2024.

My favorite player as a kid - corduroy
One of my favorites too! Do you remember his classic move skating down the right wing then cutting hard left into the top of the slot and firing his powerful wrist shot for a goal. Him picking up the bat barehanded in Buffalo as well as the story of him getting a major cut in his neck area and then smoking a cigarette minutes later.
Him and Mark Howe best wrist shots all time for a Flyers. |

The question is not if they will get a return. It's what level of return and what will it cost the Flyers to move him. Where will the level tilt for the balance of the return. |

what do you think it will cost to move him Cliff? Surely you have an opinion you can share with the board.

Ghost with one year remaining at $4.5M AAV cost a 2nd + 7th to move.
Hayes has 3-years left and $7M+ AAV. Say they were willing to eat half of it (which I'm not sure that they are), I'm guessing that still puts them around the neighborhood of what it cost to get rid of Ghost.
Danny's gonna spend the next few weeks talking up Hayes, how he's still a productive player, yada yada yada. He's gonna try like hell not to retain any salary or give up any assets to move him. At the end of the day I don't expect anybody's gonna buy any of it.
What team wants to get stuck with 34-yo Kevin Hayes, even at half-price? |

Would they do it for our #7 and one of next years firsts? Would you? - MBFlyerfan
Why would we do it? We are not 1 player away from being a contender so trading any 1st would be wrong for the rebuild. We need to be acquiring picks not trade them away.
I think Sharks put that out there for washington to trade up and see what they can get from them. |

Is Will Smith or Leo Carlsson worth it in the long run? Worth more than what we would get next year with one of our firsts and who we would get this season at #7? It will be Florida's 2024 first and that is most likely to be a later first next season. If they ask for our 2024 first its no deal.

first to admit, don't know the value to say it is a good deal by the data but if there guy was there at 4 and it was the late pick next year, I think I would. They should have a way to get another 1st in 24

it is silly article time, nothing else to report, the number of click bait articles are insane but better than nothing or rehashing the same old, same old.

Why do you always answer for Cliff?
Anyway they will def retain money. That is all they need to do as they will not need to include pick. They will get a few picks/prospects back imo. Maybe a contract as well.
Hayes is a productive player. Ghost was not good his last few years so imo that is not a good comparison. No like he is slop. at say 4 million per he is on a real good deal imo.

Maybe Colorado to try and fill some of Landeskog's minutes but they're up on the cap too. I thought that they would have been more involved at last year's trade deadline but who knows what the hell was going on in the Flyers lair at the time. |

It’s a horrible comparison, just because one GM does something really dumb, the market isn’t set by that |

Ghost was traded right after covid in the middle of 2 years of a flat cap. Teams who had built their rosters under the assumption that the cap would always go up were screwed and hence the exorbitant prices to move salary.
The unique economic circumstances at the time dictated the price more than his abilities.
