On D and in G, where do those guys rank?

Whether it's Makar in COL, Hedman in TB, Pietrangelo in STL, Letang in PIT -- etc etc -- you need a top D-man which Oilers don't have. Their D is a lot better than what it was before but unless you have the goalies WPG, NYR, or TBL do, this is why it's so hard to make the cup finals and then win.

Vegas is lucky - the expansion draft was crazy for them. I think Carolina has the best chance to win the cup, after that it's Vegas. Adding Brent Burns to Jaccob Slavin and the others they have on D, they don't need a Vezina goalie in nets. Anderson and Raanta can get the job done.

EDM and TOR - both have too much $ and firepower in the group of 12. Both will go 10 years now without drafting a D-man at the top of the draft

As long as they win a playoff series within a 20-year period, I guess we can call it a success.

Edmonton and their players got exactly what they earned. Deserve ain’t got nothing to do with it. Had they scored more goals than the Golden Knights in 4 games, they would’ve earned the series win. Since they didn’t, they earned exactly what they got: tee times while Vegas is playing later this week.

Same for Toronto.

If I was McJesus I would demand a trade. He won't but he should. He will never win in Edmonton. They do not have a team they have star power and you need a team to win a Cup. Mario did not have that early in his time but slowly they built a TEAM around him. Edm does not have that Top heavy with no supporting cast. You cannot build a team without a good foundation. Just like building a house. The foundation matters and they just do not do that and leadership (coaching) is very much lacking.
They do not have the top D man either. Nurse is not that guy. Nugent Hopkins looked lost. Last night in the second period was a shame. Those refs made sure that the OIL was not going to get powerplay situations. They put their whistles away. Again goaltending wins in the playoffs. Pittsburgh had the Rangers beaten last year and were playing their third string goalie but in the end there is a reason he was a third stringer Mentally more so that physically Third stringers are just that for many reasons MAF was physically great Mentally not so much. Brain dead in many clutch situations and he was supposed to be the answer. Number one overall pick in his draft year and why did Team Canada never call his name THEY DID NOT TRUST HIM EITHER. The mental game is what separated the men from the boys. Just like golf All of those guys have physical attributes but the guys with mental toughness separate themselves from the others. Just think about it You will know what I say is TRUE

Pens don't win those 2 of those 3 cups without Fleury. He had some bad moments in the playoffs but he also had some great ones.

Leafs and Oilers went as far as the Ref's would carry them . 5 on 5 both were below avg .
