Why no mention of UFA Korpisalo? Or did I miss it?

He is available, but no team is gonna wanna take a 5mil cap hit for a back up/AHL goalie.

Going to be interesting with so many teams looking at goaltending. That said Seattle doesnt have too many. Gru and Dreidger locked up. Jones ufa. DAccord RFA and two prospect goalies signed. Jones goes to market. Think they will keep DAccord.

Overall I think the goalie carousel is going to be a bit crazy this offseason. I do wonder if new ownership will give Ottawa more freedom to spend and go after a difference maker.

Korpo mentioned as one of the big names that stands out. But I think LA tries hard to resign. And I think he wants 4 to 6 at $4 to 5 million. Too much term and money for the Sens unless Forsberg gets shipped out.

Nobody wanted him when he was for free. I'd take him if you paid me a third and retained half that salary.

Super comprehensive and well written Grimm, kudos!

I like Adin Hill, I think he's been stuck on bad teams and finally with Vegas was able to show his stability. Still unknown commodity to many, could be low cost (sub 3m), low risk. I really like the idea of signing a no namer out of the KHL per the last comment thread - they have some minders who put up stellar numbers this year, and could be had for a song. Don't know if Formenton has any value as a chip until that WJ situation gets sorted, but I'd be willing to move any of JBD/Thomson/Boucher for the right piece.

trading a first rounbd pick or a top prospect for a G is a perfect chiarelli move. OTT owns recent past proves moving any prime assets for a G is dumber than a pile of rocks. Gus for Talbot off that was bad, Murray, we all know how that ended, Bo Horvat for Schneider, bet NJD would like a redo.

G are way to unpredictable and inconsistent to trade prime assets for, one year they are vezina candidates the next they make swish cheese solid.

Also signing a UFA G to long term big money also bad move, see EDM and Cambell, OTT and Murray.

also beware of Gs who had a hot streak like Condon, Hammond maybe even Forsberg.

Just because a G has good numbers on another team does not mean they will be good in OTT, at least not untill OTT gets a NHL coach who knows anything about defense.

Hmmm, good article.
You could have Matt ( China Doll) Murray back for a bag of pucks and a 7 th rounder.

Remingtion Group and Ryan Reynolds have dropped out of the bidding for the Ottawa Senators and they will not be submitting a bid.

This should not be surprising. Often, the guys making the the most noise are on the outside looking to generate some interest. The guys who have said nothing are the ones that are usually leading the parade.

In the final bidding for the Sens watch for Michael Andlauer, Steve Apostolopoulos and Roger Greenberg as being the heavy hitters that Garrioch never wrote about but should have been watching.

nope,, with the west being obsesed with skin color either neko sparks or the wknd will own the sens and not what actually makes sense. it is why Reynolds backed out, he knew he had no chance even if they bid 2 billion

my money is on The Wknd winning the bid even if its the lowest because unlike snoop and neko sparks, he is canadian.

We don't know. The next stage gets even more secretive. But, if I am having to pick one guy who might win out I would bet on Michael Andlauer with the support of local Ottawa developers and investors.

Wolf definitely needs to get the backup & probably Markstrom would be the best option to back up. Personally, if we embraced a rebuild I would rather trade Markstrom but we all know that wont happen with Murray Edwards as Owner.

Vladar would hurt to trade but a deal makes sense. We need picks & we need a good D in the pipeline that is NHL ready. Thomsen & a 2nd for Vladar would be a solid deal for both teams.

Well it was fun to dream for a bit. Sounds like the development piece and trying to negotiate an exclusive 30 day window to discuss a new arena with the city without committing to buy caused the issue. Reynolds would bring the Sens a ton of publicity, hope he's still interested in tagging onto another bid.

2 things:
1: Your blueline improves immediately by releasing Hamonic and just letting a young guy jump in. Do it.
2: why the hate die Kuemper? He was excellent for the Caps. The D was bad.

I believe we will discover that a group (or groups) have already teamed with local investors and developers and they already know the answers to the questions the Reynolds group wanted to further negotiate.

Do not forget that developers (Ruddy and perhaps others) own the land adjacent to the LeBreton site.

Excellent blog.
easily the best break down of goaltending needs and what's available.

And well well welly well well. Who here predicted the NCC would somehow find a way to screw this up. (we all did) And they have. This is why Ottawa can't have nice things.

My money is on the Circque du Soleil guy...I think he still has a bid in and he originally lost to Ruddy and Melnyk, and only because they owned the team. Now that the team is in play too....and he agreed with the NCC's proposal in the first place. He gets it.

I'd be stunned if an American or even Canadian celebrity would sink their money into a situation where they don't even own the land on which a building (that they have to finance) is to be built. And every level of government bending them over for taxes, and a payroll of 90-100 million per year OH...and even if the team sells out...maxes out...and runs perfect---it still loses money???

Only silly Canadians will find happiness in this type of losing investment.

back to the goalies. Absolutely NOT on Carter Hart. He is one of the big three. And yes wouldn't it be ironic if Formenton got traded for him. Additionally who the hell is gonna want unproven, tainted Formenton anyhow?

Seeing as how I don't think we can pry Spencer Knight out of florida, and the longer the play offs go the more expensive Freddie Andersen gets. I propose this.

Alex DeBrincat
Forsberg (nothing retained)

to Nashiville

Rasmus Asplund
Tomas Novak
Mark Borowieki
Kevin Lankinen

Some developing up and coming third/fourth liners, a stay at home, home town boy comes back to finish career and plays a valuable role, and a buy low goalie who might coming into that sweet spot age wise.

The NCC could mess up the simple act of breathing, ffs. One of the most corrupt, useless organizations.

I don't know if having to deal with the NCC and being forced into a bad lease/real estate deal is the best for any of the new owners.

But I'm also stunned people are offering a BILLION dollars for this team.
