They are winless this year vs. Montreal and Detroit. That's low.

DeSmith's 3rd period last night was horrendous, even for him. He took himself out of the play on the GWG and basically gave the 6th goal away. Only goal he didn't play terribly on was the ENG, his bench sitting position was adequate.
I think playing the shooter tutor or trash can may be viable upgrades. |

If Casey DeSieve returns next year they all should be fired in the front office What are they looking at????????? I called it again last night Told the wife Late penalty on the Pens and quick goal Again correct and then I said there will be another quick goal and guess what RIGHT AGAIN. I look like Nostrodamas or I am watching Groundhog day over and over Really disgusted Hope the do NOT make the playoffs
I also told my wife early in the third period that this team now looks like the first period team and guess what That is exactly what happened. You do not need analytics to see what was going on. The transformation was so evident |

maybe I dont understand how injuries work, but if you arent healthy enough to start (jarry) then how is he healthy enough to be a backup?
oh and who didnt see this coming, jarry being injured limping towards playoffs being forced to start desmith...well I will tell you who, ron hextall

Yes.
A little doom, but no gloom. You guys pretty much have this spot sewn up. Both Florida and Ottawa need a ton of things to line up to get near you. And your schedule is pretty soft right near the end.
It's unfortunate though I think Ottawa and Florida would make more noise in the play offs than Pitt. This group of Penguins just look mentally and physically spent. Like Tampa. Still some great players but just a lot of hockey has been played over the past few seasons.
The Sens with two back up goalies and no head coach are just absolute chaos to play against. |

In his defense...if they had DeSmith last year, they probably beat the Rags.
But that was last year. |

I can't see them re signing Jarry next year. too hurt and he's been poopty. They will need a #1G somehow.
Rust is meh...Id look to maybe move him or POJ to bring back some talent and try to keep Z.
Granlung just sucks. Errey called him out when he made that pass it was hilarious.
IDK...I think they will make the playoffs and then out in 5. |

LOL Yeah I think they can get a game. It will be enough for Hex to justify his actions.
I was on CapFriendly....Man hte Pens are (frank)ed. I dont know how they can trade themselves out of their roster. |

If we can somehow get rid of Granlund and let Dumoulin walk (which Yohe seems to think we will) we’re not in the worst spot in the world. That’s over $20k to bring back Zucker and find a goaltender and 3C. That’s hard, but it’s possible. |

Zucker, Poehling, Archibald, Heinen, Nylander and DOC are all UFA or RFA which will need to be resigned or replaced as well. While not too pricey for 4/5 of them but that's probs $6m out of that $20m assuming they can dump Granlund. If not they have $15m to work with to sign a top 6, 4 bottom 6, 3C and #1G.
Lets be honest, Hex will just make a bigger train wreck of that situation. |

@Victoro
I like Yohe and his coverage. However, he was convinced they would let Kapanen walk at the end of last season. I hope he is correct in his BD assessment. |

No, Domingue last year was a washed up AHL has been. DeSmith was putting up decent NHL backup numbers. If they were able to league average goaltening, or even slightly under league average, they win that series. |

I think Hextall is doing exactly what Fenway wants. Keep the big 3 together to keep the masses happy and fight for a playoff spot without trading futures for win now. He was tasked with being competitive while not sacrificing the future which is impossible. The team is reasonably competitive and he isn’t trading away picks for rentals. For all we know Hextall could be following a script for grown men who actually enjoy baseball. |

I wonder if the Penguins could get Swayman. I think he may be an RFA though. |

Desmith usually does a good job backing up and coming off the bench. His starts (mostly) are the problem. |

I said last night after he let in 3 in the first period they should go with Jarry to start the 2nd. Jarry is the starter and should be getting his reps in. I mean, he had a poop 3 week after returning from injury then put up three or four great starts in a row...then injured. |
