Minnesota should win. Interesting how Knies beat out Fantilli (expected #2 pick for the 2023 draft) for the Big 10 player of the year.

Seems like he was awarded more for lifetime achievement than the present season. (Fantilli should have won this year)

Fair enough - University of Michigan also a run and gun team that allowed lots of goals against. Minnesota .757 winning % on the year with a .812 winning % in Big Ten games. Can't wait to see Knies in the blue and white.

Knies is two years older though.

Gio and Gus sitting. Holl back in. Simmonds and probably Steves added up front

To be honest, I'm a bit more skeptical of Knies at this point. He's an overager having a great season on an absolute juggernaut of a line where he's arguably the 3rd best player (definitely behind Cooley and probably Snuggerud).

He's a big kid though with decent wheels - so his transition to the NHL may be quicker than most... I hope.

Maybe he's our Chris Kreider? 🙏

He has been dominant.

200 foot game, (frank) just looking at points. We've watched the Leafs long enough to know thats not even close to enough data to judge a player or prospect.

He has been dominant. The scouts are saying it, his own team is saying it, the fans are saying it, the charts are saying it, every GM wants him in a trade.

He is the most legit prospect we have had since the big guys(AM, Marner, Nylander)

I’m hoping that he’s a decent power forward who can score 20 or so.

Another reminder with the Big 10 championship game tonight: Matt Knies’ NCAA season doesn’t end if Minnesota loses

The Golden Gophers are locked into the #1 seed for the national tournament. The earliest he can sign is if Minnesota loses *next* weekend in the regional bracket

If that’s the move what’s the plan for the left? Bump Brodie over there? Honest question.

Maybe Kreider maybe better. If he's a top six LW on the Leafs, more upside than most. Over age or not, good shot, decent wheels likes to hit, not much not to like. He's the main reason Cooley and Snuggerud have room to play.

McCann called up..doubtful they use 1 of their 5 remaining call ups for him to eat popcorn.

Hyman arrived with fewer credentials and did ok on the top six. If he gets to play with top talent he will do very well.

I hope so. Maybe a good second line guy who will go to the net with some finish.

So Gus has good stats based on Papeti.

“Since 2007-2008, 380 defencemen have played 3000+ minutes at 5v5.

Erik Gustafsson ranks first in relative goal differential. His teams have fared far better when he's on the ice.

The puck bounced over his stick on his first shift as a Leaf, but he hasn't been on for a 5v5 GA.”

Read an article somewhere that said Knies won because of his all round game. Nice to see some people looking at more than just points to determine a player's value.

Knies may not be the best player on his line (Logan Cooley) but he and Fantilli are freshmen and that apparently means something. He even might have a chance at winning the Hobey Baker.
