Yep!!! They hung up the chainz - keaner17
Resting him for the playoffs.
God damn I won’t watch the next game either. Palmieri stepped up. |

He did. Took a dumb penalty at one point but it didn't cost them. Engvall was arguably the best player on the ice IMO. - keaner17
Engvall has been great lately, if he comes in at a reasonable number I would definitely like to keep him beyond this season |

I have a suspicion that they really didn't have an intention of resigning him when the trade was made but if he's going to play himself into an extension, everyone wins. |

Boy has the change of scenery helped Beau.
Kid now has 7 goals 14 points in 17 game.
He’s keeping up a crazy pace. |

Definitely possible, it may come down to the wire or even past July 1st if they're going to try and move salary out to accommodate a bunch of things. Who knows.
Lou's been pretty open in the past about not trading for pure rentals unless he really believes the team is a true Cup contender and he's largely stuck to that. Most of his more significant trade deadline acquisitions have been re-signed. |

He’s played very well since the trade.
He is definitely playing himself into an extension conversation for sure.
Last night I thought Fasching’s goal was huge.
This guy just works his ass off and seems to come up big when needed. |

It was actually Lou's comment on an extension with Engvall that partly made me think he was originally intended to be a rental. Lou normally says they 'intend' to extend a player after an acquisition. He was much less committed in his comment on Pierre

Certainly within the realm of possibility. He's not a "big" acquisition or a largely-meaningless depth one (like Zajac) so I could definitely see it going either way based on what kind of salary they intend to and/or can dump in the summer |

If he could put up somewhere close to 15 goals a season and play a decent two way game I’m not sure why Lou wouldn’t sign him for a 3rd line role? That’s unless he proves himself out our lameriello envisions other players there? |

I think they would want to re-sign him, but right now I think the main focus is going to be on extending Sorokin beyond next season. Any money they spend is going to be done with an eye on keeping some set aside to keep Sorokin around for the long-term and it isn't going to be cheap. And if they want to try to improve in the scoring category, there may not be a lot left over to put Engvall into the $3.5M-ish range. |

Fasching has been a shining example of a guy with no particularly strong skillset just busting his ass and playing a simple, hard-working game to stick around in the NHL.
He's been absolutely fantastic this year and I hope he gets re-signed on a multi-year deal |

Yeah he’s certainly earned it. He’ll always have a place with our consistent injuries in the bottom 6 and how far out we have those players signed. I say that at the very least meaning he’ll most likely will have secured his spot as a regular if he continues at this pace. |

Yeah I think he's penciled in for a 3rd line spot out of camp next year for sure. Will be interesting what happens when Barzal/Wahlstrom are back in the fold.
Lots of RW's when everyone is healthy. Palmieri/Horvat/Bailey/Wahlstrom/Holmstrom/Fasching/Clutterbuck all play, or typically play, the right side |
