I was talking eastern conference only. Are you saying Avs - Bruins cup final?

I could see that.

I agree - I hate the cost - I would’ve like to draft a center with the first, and two d with tens NYI pick and our second. But it’s a gamble.

Getting rid of OEL and Myers is gonna create some massive holes - hopefully for the better bcus they’re both garbage but again they play against top players and log huge mins every night.

the price for Hronek was huge and I hate it but it’s the beginning of changing the back end and it’s a great start realistically, considering we have control of a proven player for potentially 5-10 years.

It’s a Tough situation given the fact they have to convince Petey and Hughes to stick around and the chances of trading each of those players and hoping you can redraft players of their calibre is fawking highly unlikely. It’s just not realistic, no matter how easy people here think it is.

I think there’s this mentality that drafting RHD automatically means that they’re gonna be good or valuable players - It’s mental. Again, look around the league- I can think of a handful of decent RHD /it’s rare to find decent ones that move the needle - my point is that no matter who you trade for or draft - Bear is the norm.

You might be right, but the difference is the cost to acquire, and the cap space those draft picks take up. They are able to be on ELCs for 3 years (more if you develop them in the AHL (or college or another internation league) and have the contracts slide for 1 or 2 years before you bring them up) and then can be cost controlled for another 3-4 years before UFA. The problem with trading for players like Hronek is that they're already on their bridge deals and will be looking to cash in, making them much more expensive, not only in cap space but the cost (draft picks/roster players/prospects) to get them as well. Hronek may well be that top 4 D we need, but whoever we could have drafted with that 1st and 2nd round pick might well have become that same top 4 D for much cheaper and for much longer.

You can't fall much more than how they were this year.

Don't get me wrong I am happy with the direction. I think Kravstov was a very good signing. I don't know enough about Hronek but again I don't like the price at first sight.

It just seems like this management failed on a few moves like Boeser and the length of Miller and even Lazar now being traded when signed to a three year deal. It looks like a lot of back peddling but the good thing is they are not sitting back on their mistakes and letting them expire.

I read an article that mentioned how JR is pretty good with that: rectifying "mistakes" he has made and not letting pride/ego get in the way of shipping someone out he himself brought in recently. One silver lining.

There's some solace in that but it's still a train wreck twisting in different directions.

Nothing wrong with trying things. Like Lefty said they are slinging poop at the wall and seeing what sticks.

I do like what he has done with Aman and Joshua. I may be the minority, but I like that duo more than other years bottom fourth line. I always wanted them to take a run at Kravstov so I will give them some credit.

A 2nd round RHD isn't going to help us until Pete and Hughes are gone. If we are going to try and compete while we have them on this team, developing a 2023 pick to help us on the backend isn't going to pan out.

I personally don't care anymore, I have been so turned off from this team, the organization and the players, that I hope if they do still have it, that it ends up in the 10-16 spot.

This team is the classic case of doing the same things over and over, expecting different results, for as long back as I can remember.

That's the problem, we aren't going to be able to compete with what we have and the cap situation we're in. No team is going to take our bad contracts off of our hands AND give us good players in return.

I understand why they did it but don't like how much they paid. I have been saying they can make significant change in the next two years so the move does not surprise me.

Bear to me is like Stecher. If you have them in your top 4 you are a bubble team or less. I don't have anything against him personally but look at him as an ugly girlfriend.

Who would I have targeted?

For me it is not who I would have targeted but how I would have targeted a trade. RHD are like gold and in most cases if developed properly can bring in a boatload in a trade. I see Fabro who was drafted mid first and now the asking price is a first if you want him and he is not that good. I would have drafted the best RHD with every pick outside of the top five in this year's draft. You only need to hit on one or two a year.

I would buy out OEL this year and and trade Myers this summer and would have bought two middle of the road RHD this year and kept my draft picks.

Not angry with the trade I just don't like the cost.

I worked with old reel to reel records and had to convert them to digital. What an absolute pain in the ass. The older the tape was the more I had to clean the recording head. If not stored properly, the tape starts to disintegrate.
