Dhaliwal saying the Canucks are trying to offload a bad contract now that may cost them an asset to do so.

You can’t fix things with fairy dust, they’ve gotta eat some shit to clean up the mess. Or, be patient and build slowly. Doesn’t seem like that’s the plan and as long as Aquilini is the owner, it never will be.

The Oilers have about $216 in cap space, according to Twitter. But they’ve also got the best two players in the world.

14 Mill Trade him... he isn't McDavid or Mackinnon... something more along the lines of Pasta should be about right.
- SMP8719

He's doing better then Mackinnon was at the same age. Different type of player, better defensive player without the wheels though.

- He's 20th in points in the NHL for defence
- He's 16th in goals by a defence
- 26th in shots by D
- 19th on PP points (and 41st in PP time among D)
- He's plus 8 on a team that is minus 14 (note all the PP points too)
- All while being 59th in minutes played on not a great team

I mean....seems pretty legit considering there are 32 teams....

- canucksfan1944

Sounds like a young top pairing right handed D!

Great trade

The management group is getting loads of heat for this move but Hughes came right out and said that he ain’t sticking around for a rebuild. I’m sure Petey feels the exact same way.

Has anyone thought about the fact that maybe it’s the Canuck young stars that are forcing the hand of management to get competitive as quickly as possible?

It was pretty obvious from what they’ve said, they’re not rebuilding. They’ve got some good young players in Pettersson, Hughes, Demko and Kuzmenko. They not interested in rebuilding. Just gotta keep building on what’s there and hope for the best.

I watch ten games a week, I love hockey, I just stopped caring about them being good. Seattle is keeping me engaged in competitive hockey.

Hughes is signed long term... he has no say if he sticks around or not. He becomes a UFA for the 27/28 season.

No I don't think it's the young stars forcing their hand. FA is the one before during and after this management group pushing for shortcuts.

Not to mention, EP40 is probably going to be gone anyways because the team has no cap to sign him, and will have to dump a lot of cap especially if he asks north of 9mil which he will.

The length of his contract does not stop him from requesting a trade. These days most if not all players who request trades are granted their request.

That’s what I’ve said, once they said they are untouchable the retool began. Fix the damn D we have a good goalie, get a center. We’ve proven we can score.

Framework of the deal, but cap complications prevented one of the great spectacles in sports tonight: player walking across the hallway to his new team in same building.

To #TexasHockey: Max Domi, Dylan Wells
To #Blackhawks: 2nd Rd Pick, Anton Khudobin

No salary retained.

This is one of the best posts and comments I've heard, EP and QH are not gonna sit around and lose for the next four years while some picks may or may not develop.
If we are going to resign EP, we have to show that we are going to try REALLY HARD to build a team that can compete in the western conference, while they are in their prime years.

I wonder if McDonagh has told them he will sign, or at least be respectful enough to say he's walking

I think this core has/is changing, they traded the long serving captain, that's a big start, they have changed the entire management for top down in the last year, another step.
They seem to be working at it
Go Canucks 6-5 win tonight, JT with the hatty
