Completely wrong mindset on your part IMO. They aren’t “getting rid” of him. It’s called asset management, when you build depth within your organization you have young players pushing from below, which they have.
When you’re a poorly ran organization you don’t have that push from below, ie: the Vancouver Canucks. So you have to spend assets to acquire those young players. - LeftCoaster
They have no one pushing Hronek for his job, they have 6 RHD between NHL/AHL and the only NHL caliber one is Seider. I'm not arguing with the methodology you're laying out, I'm saying I think they're selling high on a player they figure has already topped out at 25.
3/4 years from now, will Hronek still hold more value that the players they take with those 2 picks combined? |

Yes. Because the Canucks draft like poop 90% of the time. In the top 10, we hit about 50% of the time. Outside the top 10, we’re getting it right about 8% of the time. |

Remember the Captain Betha Bo is out. All hail Alpha Miller. - Fidel
Moving Bo (*plus 2nd) did yield a top 6 two way forward with speed; 2/3 center prospect and now two way top 4 RSD. All under under 25. Not bad retool and support for young core.
As for JTM well I guess he’s the fired up vet that pushes young guys. Then again he could get traded for more retool options. |

Our drafting has been absolutely horrid. It’s not like there’s a franchise changing prospect in any position in the organization anywhere. The worse thing is, as long as they show nepotism towards former Canucks in scouting… I don’t see it getting any better. Unless it’s a top 7 overall, we’re probably better off trading any picks as we’ll most likely draft a bust anyways. |

It's a high risk trade with potential to have a high reward. Not the kind of move I would have wanted to make, but here we are.
I do think this season is a gong show because of Demko. First the poor play, then the long term injury. The Canucks were never a team that was going to compete without at least top 10 goaltending. With him back at top form, the team is a playoff team as opposed to a bottom feeder. Without him, it's a flaming pile of crap. |

I believe with the latest move, adding Hronek and certainly more to come, shows our current young core that management is doing their job to improve this team now. These type of moves perhaps influence Petey, Hughes, and Demko's decision to stay long(er) term.
If they can continue improving, I am all in for the 10 year "retool" |

So if QH who’s signed says that imagine what Petey who needs to be signed feels like.
Clear that Canucks either choose scorched earth or keep their core and retool. |

Yup and most here don’t realize that. There’s not one player in this core that would stay and it’ll take 10-15 years to rebuild into a strong playoff team if we decide to scorch it all down. |

It's not as if people don't realize that. They know that, what they realize is the team has a bunch of anchor contracts, no real help coming in the way of prospects unless a few make some large jumps in development. A lack of depth in the NHL team. A lack of high draft picks now. Always dealing from a place of desperation.
They are not helping their cap space situation. Fine with the move for Hronek, not really the price that was paid for him at the current state of the organization. 27th overall and 27th best prospect pool.
Make the moves at the right time and when the situation is right. As soon as they start to make moves in the right direction, they do something to put themselves back into the position they were before. Bottom of the league. |

Ah like I said a few pages ago, who knows what has been promised to players / agents. I just wonder if it's for the betterment of the franchise or have we made players the defacto management? I mean if the retool goes sour (and it likely will) the players can throw a fit and force their way out. In that case we wont have a full farm nor will we have established players which results in this same scenario playing itself out again 5 years....

Most realize that re-tools never work, unless you have ownership that's hands off and willing to not press for quick fixes and actually hire competent management. GMMG was bad only in that he was too loyal to his players and tried every TDL to push for an SCF run and left is with too many NMC contacts and no prospects. GMJB was horrible after because he chased after every shiny new player and ignored drafting to restock our prospect cupboards. I'm on the fence with JR/PA but I think they're going to end up marginally better than Benning, but worse than Gillis. |

We should almost stand pat then until the OEL & Miller contracts expire. Trade Pettersson, Hughes and Demko when they demand it. And hopefully start the rebuild in 10 years, and only be mediocre/poop for 10 more years before we start turning that corner. |

Hearing Dallas Stars #TexasHockey are working on acquiring Max Domi from #Blackhawks.
There's a few layers to it, so many take a little time to execute, but believe Anton Khudobin's contract involved to make the money work.

People keep going on about Miller being traded this deadline. Pay attention, they don't trade away 2 high picks for a Dman just to leave this team with one center. They are moving picks to make the play offs next season. That much is obvious... |

This might have something to do with why management is still making win-now moves. You have to convince this guy to stay. $14 mil market value if he keeps going the way he is.

Some of us believe they could trade Miller and still put together a playoff bound team next year |
