You realize those players will need to be replaced right? - manvanfan
The only one they don't have a real positional replacement for is Myers.. could bring Schenn back and voila.
And Miller, clearly. Nothing to be done about C depth at this point. |

Canucks been doing that for a while now. It's lead to to be a bottom 5 team over the last decade multiple times - manvanfan
Which is why it was so easy to make such a prediction
I don't know what else to tell you but the obvious |

Totally. The level of angst from media and the fan base is ridiculous. The team told us what they were planning to do, and that’s retool on the fly.
For folks to expect different is just setting themselves up for disappointment. Regardless of the management group running the team, this will always be the direction.
Accept it or find another team. - bloatedmosquito

I don't think people have that much of a problem with it as long as they don't go about it in stupid ways. Is that too much to ask? Not really.
Too much to ask to have a half decent GM for once? |

Thanks Michael,
I also liked the trades so far, I understand the complaints regarding trading of picks for Hronek but I myself do not believe in a complete tear down, I agree with building around Pettersson and Hughes but would like to move on from Miller. - Makita
I agree on all points. I wanted Hronek but didn’t think he was available. Miller gone would be icing on the cake |

But that is the Canuck way. They self-implode due to stupidity. We have all observed it for decades. Ain’t going to change.
The last GM that I had confidence in was Brian Burke but even he made some pretty dumb moves at times. Our team’s owners are no better. |

I think the Miller signing was the writing on the wall. They were not going to tear it down after signing that contract. That signing reeked of retool. |

The one bit that still gets me is where is the logic regarding signing him before Horvat? You could have traded Miller for MORE than was paid for Hronek. |

Really like how the Bruins are loading up for a Cup run.
Gotta love how some teams know when it is time to go all in, and also hilarious to see teams go all in, when they are trash.
Go BRUINS GO. - Reubenkincade
Kinda reminds me of 2006 when the Bruins were 3rd last in the league and blamed a young future first ballot HHOF’er Joe Thornton, who they selected first overall, for all their problems so they traded him for Marco Sturm. POS organization!
PS: didn’t he win the Hart Trophy the next year? |

It’s past March 1 so that means teams can begin signing undrafted players to contracts that start next season.
Hearing #NHLDucks are signing Jaxsen Wiebe from WHL Prince George. Near a point per game this season with 81 PIM, has an edge to his game. |

Who knows what promises ownership has had to make to players / agents. I did a quick check to see how many teams have won the cup within 2 to 3 years of undertaking a significant retool over the last 30 seasons. The answer is not a lot.
Prima facia, the club has what feels like a bad relationship with its fans. Although I would say it has more of the feel of the harold Ballard years of the TML in the sense that the direction and strategy set at the top wont allow management of the club to be successful.
If you choose to "break up" with the team, I cant blame you. The last 10 years have been as bad as any that this franchise has ever had. |

Wasn't that because Harry Sinden was the owner at the time and didn't want to pay Thornton and demanded he be traded because of it? I also think you are correct. |

I like the logic that they lowballed Horvat because he was having a career year.. but paid JTM top dollar while he had a career year |

They did something right between say 2006 and 2011 tho no? And they have been mostly ok to watch between 2012 and 2023. |

Especially when the reverse would have been paying Horvat less just prior to a career year, and trading Miller for a bunch of assets so that you don't have to pay him a premium
They literally played it to the worst possible outcome. |

That is one D man I can get behind, wonder what the cost would be, and if something built around Boeser as it gets him closer to home could be worked out? |

@hayyyshayyy
Does acquiring former first round picks ease the pain of moving their own out? That seems to be the line of thinking in Vancouver. There’s another young forward, former high first-rounder on their radar. Deal hasn’t materialized yet, so we’ll see if it goes anywhere. |
