Holy fawk you’re a POS - by all means just waddle on over the Bruins bandwagon and stop coming around
I’m kidden bud - long time no chat - hope you’re doing well - Brooks_Light
All good. My mother just passed away on Tuesday, so been busy doing death stuff, which is a bit of work.
As the Eastern guy, what do you know about Bloom. He has been decent, anytime I have seen him |

Maybe Hronek won't turn out to be a Schmidt deal, but I can't say I like the smell of it.
Big overpay and I've seen this type move a few times before. |

It was sad, but also a relief, as she was deteriorating badly, over the past couple years. |

A 2nd round pick in this draft would have been a really good thing to have. - manvanfan
Apparently they want players, not picks.

If you have Bear in your top 4 then you should be collecting all the draft picks you can get. - VANTEL
Even if Bear isn't in the top 4, good luck convincing management of that |

What other RHD would you or anyone here think they should’ve targeted??
Btw, Who are all these incredible RHD that other teams have that are so different?
To me, Bear is a prototypical version of most RHD in the league - decent skater, offers some offence, doesn’t play physical, doesn’t defend that well, tops out as top 4.
For clarity - I fawking hate the fact that they traded away two picks in the top 40 but the chances of either of those picks becoming better than Hronek are slim and he can jump in and improve the D right away. And given the fact Petey and Hughes are the building blocks and they don’t wanna rebuild - it’s the lesser of two evils.
Let’s be honest - with the way this Org has done things forever no one’s happy with anything anymore. |

Well, 4 hours to go, and no word of any big deals. Looks like JR/PA shot their wad with trading Bo and getting Beauvillier, Raty and now Hronek back. I don't see Miller/Boeser/Garland going at this point so... yay? I guess? |

Yeah buddy - went thru the same thing with my dad a few years back - it was quite sad but oddly a relief when he finally passed. Either way, not fun stuff - hopefully the TDL offers you some distraction |

I wish they would have waited to trade Bo closer to the deadline. I think the haul would have been better than what NYI gave up. |

Again, it's going to turn out to be a pointless move because Petey will be gone after next season because this team just isn't good enough and making marginal moves where most of the core is still here isn't going to make them significantly better enough to win. Not to mention that they don't have any cap and are unwilling to do what's necessary to fix that situation. And as soon as Petey goes, so does Hughes, so we're at square one anyways. Again, as stated, this is how this organization does business.

What are they livid about? That they would have traded him if it meant getting a center?
Wonder if they could have looped in a third team... JTM to Pitts > Pitts picks to other team > Canucks get C from other team and other player(s) |

You’ve stated a few time now that Petey will leave after his current contract expires. Why are you so sure? One of the main reasons why they got rid of Bo was to hand over the team to Petey. If Miller and Petey did have some sort of beef, Miller would be gone too. The Canuck have made it painfully clear they plan to build around Petey and Hughes. Usually when teams say these thing out loud they have confidence that these building blocks will be around for a long time.

That’s funny - cus according to capfriendly - they’ll have 33mil when it comes time to resign Petey - he’s not going anywhere.
Right now the JT, Boeser, Garland, Hughes and Demko are the only contracts on the books at that time - we’ll see who’s still around - but I think you’re delusional.
I think Petey will be an extended the moment they can and he’ll be made captain. |

He'll also be an RFA after next season, so unless he holds out/demands a trade he can't bolt.
(You forgot about OEL's contract that runs through 2046-47 season... and Poolman and Miky) |

He's stated he wants to win... this team isn't going to win, at least not in the next 3-5 years that I can see. I can be completely wrong, but I see this as a Timo Meier situation, especially with how bad the cap situation is. |

I understand why they did it but don't like how much they paid. I have been saying they can make significant change in the next two years so the move does not surprise me.
Bear to me is like Stecher. If you have them in your top 4 you are a bubble team or less. I don't have anything against him personally but look at him as an ugly girlfriend.
Who would I have targeted?
For me it is not who I would have targeted but how I would have targeted a trade. RHD are like gold and in most cases if developed properly can bring in a boatload in a trade. I see Fabro who was drafted mid first and now the asking price is a first if you want him and he is not that good. I would have drafted the best RHD with every pick outside of the top five in this year's draft. You only need to hit on one or two a year.
I would buy out OEL this year and and trade Myers this summer and would have bought two middle of the road RHD this year and kept my draft picks.
Not angry with the trade I just don't like the cost. |
