To me, Bear is a prototypical version of most RHD in the league - decent skater, offers some offence, doesn’t play physical, doesn’t defend that well, tops out as top 4.

For clarity - I fawking hate the fact that they traded away two picks in the top 40 but the chances of either of those picks becoming better than Hronek are slim and he can jump in and improve the D right away. And given the fact Petey and Hughes are the building blocks and they don’t wanna rebuild - it’s the lesser of two evils.

Let’s be honest - with the way this Org has done things forever no one’s happy with anything anymore.

Well, 4 hours to go, and no word of any big deals. Looks like JR/PA shot their wad with trading Bo and getting Beauvillier, Raty and now Hronek back. I don't see Miller/Boeser/Garland going at this point so... yay? I guess?

Yeah buddy - went thru the same thing with my dad a few years back - it was quite sad but oddly a relief when he finally passed. Either way, not fun stuff - hopefully the TDL offers you some distraction

Again, it's going to turn out to be a pointless move because Petey will be gone after next season because this team just isn't good enough and making marginal moves where most of the core is still here isn't going to make them significantly better enough to win. Not to mention that they don't have any cap and are unwilling to do what's necessary to fix that situation. And as soon as Petey goes, so does Hughes, so we're at square one anyways. Again, as stated, this is how this organization does business.

I understand why they did it but don't like how much they paid. I have been saying they can make significant change in the next two years so the move does not surprise me.

Bear to me is like Stecher. If you have them in your top 4 you are a bubble team or less. I don't have anything against him personally but look at him as an ugly girlfriend.

Who would I have targeted?

For me it is not who I would have targeted but how I would have targeted a trade. RHD are like gold and in most cases if developed properly can bring in a boatload in a trade. I see Fabro who was drafted mid first and now the asking price is a first if you want him and he is not that good. I would have drafted the best RHD with every pick outside of the top five in this year's draft. You only need to hit on one or two a year.

I would buy out OEL this year and and trade Myers this summer and would have bought two middle of the road RHD this year and kept my draft picks.

Not angry with the trade I just don't like the cost.
