With SO MANT teams still in the running for those wild card playoff spots, is it possible that a few of them actually traded for a Kane now while not "on board" point-wise?
It is the question I ask about the Sabres.
They certainly don't want to be seen as trading away the future, even (or especially) for Buffalo's own son.
So I would bet that most of teh youth currently on the roster are hands off in regards to trading them. The fans have endured many trades that they never wanted to see happening. Maybe just maybe, I see Quinn as the only possible guy they would consider off their roster.
I think I like Noah Östlund, a centre with the 2023 late first rounder (maybe it will be #20?)they have. I think their top two on Wheeler's list are hands off too. Jiri Kulich is already on the Rochester AHL team plays three forward positions and I am certain he plays in the NHL.
They probably like Matthew Savoie a lot too, so that is why I ask for Noah Östlund and the current #20 pick... - wiz1901
I would be surprised if he ends up in Buffalo. After that whole saga, I'm not sure he wants to go back there anytime soon. He has spent his summers here ever since. And Buffalo, are they ready to make this kind of a splash and give up picks/prospects, or do they have a longer range plan? |

Frank Nazar is active for Michigan tonight, making his debut! He’s centering the third line of 2 other NHL prospects. |

Listen to Kanes comments..he clearly wanted to be a Ranger...asking price was way too much. Agent doesnt set the asking price..Rangers werent going to wait for them to lower it. - hfc355
I watched the exchange. Yes, Rangers were likely on the top of the list but show me where it got to the point Kane waived for the Rangers, and Davidson caused the deal to fail?
So much false info out there. Media is now hyping up this "hip issue" and yet there is Kane verbally stating he feels better than last year. So i think there is a lot of false crap being reported....time will tell, but if either Kane or Toews ARE traded the Chicago barstool hockey "expert" loses all credibility trying to out "scoop" everyone. If they aren't traded then we just confirm how big of lap dogs Chicago beat guys are.
It's early still...what are we 3+ weeks from the deadline? why wouldn't Davidson set prices HIGH IF it got that far? There are other teams interested, and Kane himself today said it won't be 1 team as he tries to do right by the organization. |

That was so long ago, they are right there for a playoff spot, i can see him on the same line as Tage Thompson

It really sounds like he doesn't want to leave. I bet being a father now has a lot to do with it - BetweenTheDots
I wouldn't say that....I think he wants to see WHO are the teams interested, so he can sit with his people and decide what, if any, teams he would waive to...alert Davidson and then see if Davidson can get it done.
However, the Taresenko trade starts to give us an idea of what the return will be.
Lets see where Meier goes as that will also push the needle quickly as well. |

How does being a father of a three year old make him not want to leave? Do you think Kane would be worried his son would miss his nursery school friends? I get it if his kid was in high school but I doubt he’d be worried about uprooting his three year old. |

More Kane: "In fairness to Kyle - Chunk[Davidson], I haven't went to Kyle and said, 'I wanted to go here [or] I want to [stay]. I haven't gotten to any of that yet... I think within the next 10 days or so, we'll probably get a clearer picture of what's going to happen."
Exactly fits what Brisson said would happen..that both Kane and Toews would let the team know by 10 days to go.
Patience......I don't believe anyone has any idea what those 2 are thinking. |

I do, that means his girlfriend and child don't have the same consistent support group, family, around them. To some people that's a big deal

100% agreed. He's also gone for how long? 3 months at worst where I am sure Amanda and little Patrick will make a trip, if not find a place with him, to hang out?
I get people are emotional about this. It sucks, but everyone knew this day was coming. the Hawks need as many picks, prospects as possible....its out of their hands thanks to NMCs but they need to move at least 1 of these 2, if not both for the LT betterment of the team.
Yes, I could easily see Kane coming back here and signing a 3 year deal IF he likes what the Hawks do at the draft.
I think Toews is LONG gone...... |

Honestly....you really don't think that if Amanda needed an extra hand Kane wouldn't bank roll a family member to help her out?
This is getting a tad ridiculous. Uprooting kids out of school....OK..... |

Not sure what to think about Kane and Toews? I think a number of other guys, McCabe, Domi, Murphy, AA, Johnson etc will be moved probably close to or on Trade Deadline day.

I have always thought Kane plays things a LOT closer to the vest than Toews. He's very analytical, very well spoken with the media, very aware of teams, their current position in standings, players.
I think for Kane the juice has to be worth the squeeze. Meaning he needs to go somewhere he feels he can WIN. Otherwise, he could likely shut it down, possibly get his hips shaved and be ready for camp. I don't know but I think a team like carolina, Edmonton, Colorado makes a lot of sense. Would he go to dallas? I think that's a darkhorse because of Sharp and Sharp has always said he liked Dallas a LOT.
Toews...I think he'll go just about anywhere. I think he just wants to play meaningful games again.
JUST my opinion but if I were to bet.....Toews is 75%+ gone, Kane is 50% unless he gets a match he LOVES.
The rest I agree with.....Davidson will be busy regardless. |

It could be Kane himself, maybe he's comfortable with his routine and friends and so on, maybe LA is right he doesn't want to go anywhere else. Well he said if Cat was still here he might not want to leave but none the less.

Hey Wiz what do you think of Quentin Musty for our late 1st pick big boy looks like has some nice hands and plays with a chip on his shoulder - oldduffman
I have gone up and down on him all season. He is from southwest of Buffalo, btw.
In the summer U-18 he was clearly a big kid with plenty of upside and impactful offensive ability but looked like he was negligent of his end or playing an active role as an attacker besides just wanting to score and set things up. He clearly looked like a guy thinking his attributes were enough and the other parts of the game were less worthy of him. Over the season, the coach carousel there he seemed to apply myself better and now I like him a lot.
Here is his profile I wrote on Lines.com:
This prospect is like a new romantic relationship-eventually the petals fall off and you see things in a more realistic perspective. USA born prototypical power wing who was selected first overall in the OHL draft by Sudbury in 2021. So many times when you hear "future prototypical forward" attached to prospects, you equate that as a good player in battle zones who takes advantage of the loose pucks in close. Well, this kid is also a play-maker who skates and handles pucks well, and has the wheels and wherewithal to create chances for himself and teammates from most places in the attack zone. In his first season in the OHL, he displayed all three S's : Skating Skill Scoring. Unfortunately, the Spring 2022 Ivan Hlinka-Gretzky Under-17 tournament he displayed another S - he struggled to play with increased intensity, effort and no sustained team play, as he looked like an individual out there. Furthermore, great skating, scoring ability, and skill set doesn't make you a complete hockey player. As this season began, he didn’t work hard on the back check and did a lot of coasting and did very little away from the puck, so if he isn't scoring, he was a non-factor towards winning. He has improved but the Wolves coaching carasal that has him playing with a third head coach added to the adversity. He finally established the top of player who he is and settled into finally showing the signs of being the dominant winger we thought he could evolve into as a pro. Has great vision and is showing the high end distribution skills he has besides scoring ability. He uses his big body and uses it to shield his pucks in his carries. Didn’t always have excellent jump, improving his first few steps, but when he's going, his top end speed is really good. His biggest improvements are away from the puck, where he has become a dogged puck retriever, intense in his board battles and displaying a quick stick. He has excellent finishing ability around the twine and very heavy shot. There is plenty of work to be done but may also be a big payoff.

This is all he has known. I get that.....but I also think this helps him get a feel for where his market will be this summer.
If all of us on here can see what cap space looks like, the assets Davidson will likely take (see Rangers trade) it's pretty easy to start weeding out teams.
i really think kane to Dallas makes a lot sense. Sure he wouldn't be keen on facing the Avs at some point, but given how tight he was with Sharp, Sharp loving Dallas, it makes sense. kane also played with Seguin I believe in the lockout over seas..... |

They both are but Brisson said Hawks would know by 10 days before. I don't think either side, Brisson or Davidson, was expecting Horvat and Taresenko to go as fast as they did. Could tell Kane was caught off guard by that and I am sure had words for his agent. I would.
I was in STL this week and Armstrong said he couldn't risk injury. Plus 91 requested a trade in 2021 so there's that. A little different situation.
I just personally feel this narrative that the asking price was HIGH is BS. Same with the hip narrative. Sounds like spin from Drury. |

I get it, that trade hurt, but I’ll take that 2013 cup. |
