Do you think since Bettman made that comment about teams tanking that none of the top 3 teams in %odds will win the lottery? What are people going to say if the worst team wins the lottery? His statement was a lie! - powerenforcer
Why do you think the Hawks are playing themselves out of a bottom 3 position? |

I think there will be a few teams trying to play into the top 3. I am expecting a team to jump 10 spots to #1.

Hawks Are following the plan to a Tee, just showcasing the talent down the stretch till TDL then trade them all for whatever you can get . Then start the toboggin ride to the basement .

While not on purpose, would be hard to get the players to do it, but it kind of may be working out that way.
Is this the year when the Chicago teams finally get real lucky in their tanks?
Bears sure got Lovie, I mean lucky, lets keep that rolling.
Starting to think that both Toews and Kane could resign in the offseason after TDL trades if Hawks were to get lucky and get Bedard. I used to think that was crazy talk. Figured once they were gone, they'd be gone. I really get the feeling neither really wants to leave.
I know Bettman won't let them get Bedard, but maybe he'll screw that up also |

Yep. Not a lot of teams can eat that cap hit.
Please convince Toews to waive and come play for Brind'amour, thanks. - BINGO!
Towes 50% retained for 2023 2nd and bokk or Suzuki. In your opinion which would be a better fit for the Hawks and which one of the players mentioned has a higher ceiling? |

They keep coming, don't quit. That's a positive and I hope it's a reflection of the coaching staff. At least it's watchable.

I didn't see the game, just the highlights, so I didn't get the context but it did give a fan a throw back feel of the sport.

Hey Bingo - What does the Patches injury do to the Canes team? Can they trade Gardiner + for Toews?

I didn't see it either. I could argue that fighting used to have a purpose in the sport (although I'm not sure if I could make a convincing argument). Anymore the fights are so staged and contrived that there really is no point. Look at Domi's BS fight. He jumped a guy who put a clean hit on Kane (and it even looked like he help up a bit). What the hell did Domi's fight do? Made him look like a putz and got him a misconduct.
I'm willing to hear an argument that fighting has a purpose in todays game, but you (not you specifically) are going to have to be damn convincing. |

Domi is an embarrassment. That "fight" reminded me why I never cared for the guy. He usually jumps players when they're not really willing or ready to engage. Joshua looked like he let up on Kane and at the end of the clip, he's looking at the ref like, "What am I supposed to do with this little brat clutching on to me?" - Dieselhead
It's just not Domi. That has been the MO for the league for awhile now. You hit anyone, and you are expected to answer the bell. Good article in the athletic where they were polling guys about what they do in between in periods....well, Stillman supposedly clipped a Wild player high, so Foligno watched video, and to start the 2nd period he calls him out. Think it was Greenway who is a big guy by himself.
The days of hitting without having to fight are over. It's ridiculous but here we are. |

Lets put it this way......if this were 1986 or whatever and say.....some guy hit Gretzky like that, do we think Semenko is dropping them? I bet he is. Why? You protect your star players. Do I agree with it? Eh....not really. Clean hit is a clean hit, but you also want your star, offensive creators to have room out there to set up shop and not worried about getting blasted.
And how many on this board would have called out Domi had he done nothing? LIkely the same who blasted Buff back in 09 or 10 when he refused to protect a teammate, and then the next game beat the hell out of somebody. |

You know...if the Hawks got Bedard I wouldn't be shocked to see Kane and Debrincat both back here. Nothing to go, and likely 99.99% wrong but just a hunch.

the team that Bedard plays for needs to have at least one skill guy on his line and one tough guy on the roster. It will be a preresiquite. Who the GM moves might surprise you. The priority is Bedard's success. Even if he gets only 50-60
points his rookie season. |

I could see a scenario developing where the Hawks have a top 3 pick at least two years in a row. I could also see scenarios where Toews and Kane stay with the Hawks.
- If Kane has a chronic injury that has been bothering him for over a year, he plays until another month or so then gets it surgically repaired. The Hawks sign him for a few mil on a one year deal knowing he will not be ready until late next season. The Hawks then sign Kane for maybe 3 or 4 years at $6 mil.
- Toews resigns for 2 or 3 years at about $5 mil. The Hawks have plenty of cap space and being a captain of the Hawks means something to Toews.
- Hawks draft 2nd, 3rd or 4th in 2023 and get a really good forward.
- Hawks get a top 3 pick the following year and draft another really good forward.
- By 2024/25 some of the young prospects are ready and the Hawks have enough cap space to add a major piece(s).

What many forget is that the Hawks have to hit the cap floor. That's a lot of money that has to be made up....so unlike the prelockout days when the Wirtz's could roll out a steaming pile of poop.....they can't anymore. They trade Toews and Kane and say McCabe, you have Tyler Johnson, Jones, Mzarek, and Murphy only making north of 3.8
What are they going to do? Overpay guys and ruin the UFA market? They will need some large contracts unless they trade for it and get picks to help cap hell teams out.
Might see that at the deadline. |
