I know the cap hits for 19 & 88 are 10.5 each.
How much “real” money is owed them?
Does that affect whom, if either waive, a team decides to “pursue”?
Just throwing it out there….

Domi is an embarrassment. That "fight" reminded me why I never cared for the guy. He usually jumps players when they're not really willing or ready to engage. Joshua looked like he let up on Kane and at the end of the clip, he's looking at the ref like, "What am I supposed to do with this little brat clutching on to me?" |

Kane's actual salary this season is $6.9 million, $4 million of which was paid as a bonus to start the year. He's owed another $1.5~ million in actual dollars the rest of the year.
Same situation for Toews. |

And that should be around 1M or less by the trade deadline. If Hawks retain 50% and a 3rd party retains 25% the acquiring team pays the remaining 25%. So the "cash outlay" after the deadine is about 500,000, 250,000 and 250,000 for the three teams. That's peanuts for a contending team that wants either Kane or Toews.
I would think cap space, not the cash payout will be the deciding factor when it comes down to trading partners. |

Might be a good time to start figuring out what the pecking order is going to be for wingers and centers at the TDL. I suppose a lot will depend on whether or not ROR and Tarasenko are going to be back at 100% this spring.
BTW, I saw that Vancouver just extended Kuzmenko for 2 years at a $5.5 mill annual cap hit, so he is off the rental board. I'll always wonder what Vancouver could have gotten for him as a rental. |

Yep. Not a lot of teams can eat that cap hit.
Please convince Toews to waive and come play for Brind'amour, thanks. |

What would CAR offer? How about your 2023 2nd with conditions attached so it becomes a 1st if the Canes win the Cup? I'm greedy so also maybe a 2024 pick or a prospect- Dominik Bokk? |

Sure I'd do that. Bokk and a conditional 2nd would be fine by me. Becomes a 1st if Toews signs an extension or the Canes win the cup. |

Winnipeg is a buyer this year. I can see Toews prefer the Jets than the Canes. Easier to come out of the west this year. |

Good news that Kuzmenko is off the board. Along with the injury to Pacioretti, winger demand is going up and the supply is going down.

I'd bet the Dogs, but if not then the Ducks. I don't see the hawks.

Winnipeg has the one thing the Canes do not, a stud goalie that can steal games. I see Anderson is hurt again. |

Pulled something last night.
We're really relying on Pyotr Kochetkov to be the guy.
And that "Stud Goalie" posted a .910 sv% last year.
Interesting thing, despite playing 19 games against the east and 30 vs the west, the Jets have lost more games to eastern conference opponents than to western conference ones.
21-8-1 vs the west
10-9-0 vs the east |

Don't remember if I mentioned this the other day or not -but caught a Canucks game (pre-firing Boudreau) live; to be honest, they looked night and day different than the Moribund Hawks did in the one they had on (which sounds like it was more competitive than the 'performance' against the Canucks).
It doesn't really matter that the respective records have been relatively close; you could tell Vancouver just had a higher skill level. Also I don't know how many 'highlight's I have seen showing Chicago's #1 defenseman simply muffing up actual defenseman stuff -and usually sliding awkwardly towards to goalie in some sort of desperation move to prevent something that it probably actually assisted by A) distracting the goalie, and B) sometimes running into the goalie, like a bowling ball (although to be fair, that's usually his brother's signature move).
Whatever these guys are in offense (and Caleb is nothing in offense- so there is sort of that), they are completely lost when having to play defense - it reminds me of rec league hockey. It was a waste of money -and those saying so beforehand -they were right. I was not.
And along those lines, look I hope to be proven wrong about the Russian kid in the draft, and will own it if I am. It also won't be the first time, or the last time. |

Things aren't always as pure and simple as people assume they are. I'd love to be wrong, but I don't see the hawks getting the #1 pick.

You have a 75% chance of being right even if they finish last. |

Hawks will get a top 5 pick, imo they will get the 4th overall pick and next year get the 1st overall pick. |

If not the concussion, Stallock would have even a good fit. They ha e an impressive kid who played a lot then was de.ited when Anderson returned. Raanta is not who they should have to be reliant upon; Raanta is just ok. However, the opportunity to get to the Cup is more difficult with the cast assembled this season sin e the team on paper may be the best or most talented ever. If you. Elie e that enter goaltending may help, maybe it does BUT insider too theur style of play under Brind 'Amour may be such that another team ears them no matter giLtending upgrade. .Mortgaging the future by trading a valuable 2023 draft choice is a debate le move. Could some prospect be the price instead for subtraction - Bokk name has been mentioned. Hmm..... |

Here's my latest theory. Kane (and possibly Toews) were planning not to waive and planned to sign extensions with the Hawks in order for the opportunity to play with Bedard. Now that the Hawks are playing themselves out of a bottom 3 position in the standings, they'll decide to waive and move on. |

Do you think since Bettman made that comment about teams tanking that none of the top 3 teams in %odds will win the lottery? What are people going to say if the worst team wins the lottery? His statement was a lie! |
