LOL regarding Vosters. You don't like the "Kane to Domi to Jones, back to Domi, over to Toews, Kane, Jones" type of play by play?
I thought he was decent during his "try out" last year, but he has surely regressed. Sharp doesn't add much either. Murray is by far the better color man (person).
I think it was the Flyers game last week, when Kane missed a top shelf shot, and, paraphrasing here, Vosters said Kane scored a famous top shelf goal here in Philly years ago. Maybe I heard him wrong, but Kane's Cup winning OT goal was along the ice. |

Thank you for that analysis on Vosters...a complete waste of time. I think Troy and Sharpie are also sick of his BORING game call. Now 2 of my favs of other teams are the Bruin team and the Avs team. Lots of energy, lots of commentary and they add so much to the broadcast. |

I was thinking that exact same thing....Kane goal in 2010 was along the ice, not top shelf - GEEZ Chris, a top 3 goal in Hawk history you totally blew it...

Glad you heard it too.
Top goals in Hawk history would be a good subject on a slow day.
Some of my most memorable goals.
1. Hossa's OT winner against NSH after serving that 5 minute penalty.
2. The two "17 second" goals against Boston.
3. Kane's OT goal against Philadelphia.
4. Keith and Kane goals in game 6 against Tampa Bay.
5. Seabrook's OT goal against the Wings in the WCF after Hammer's late regulation goal was called back.
6. Jacques Lemaire scoring from the red line against Tony-O in game 7 of the 1971 finals.

They do need another play by play announcer. I'm fine with either Sharp or Murray doing color. Why not put Wiedeman on TV play by play and let someone learn the ropes on the radio broadcast? |

Wiedeman seemed like the obvious answer to take over. I wish I could remember where I heard it but they wanted to go younger to target a new audience. |

Of the four major sports, hockey has to be the toughest for doing play by play. The pool of candidates has to be pretty limited. Just listening to national broadcasts, it seems pretty obvious, as the announcing is usually pretty average there, too. And we saw it last year as so many were auditioned to replace Foley, and nobody really stood out. |

Those are all very good. I'm kind of partial to Shaw's headbutt, no-goal, and Kruger's triple overtime winner against the Ducks as I was lucky enough to be in attendance.

Yeah, thanks for bringing it up.
Adding to the list of grievances, Vosters usually misses mentioning that an odd-man rush occurs, posts being hit and then always uses jinx language such as talking about a Hawk win possibly coming up.
Yeah I vote for Wiedeman. |

Totally unrelated, just read this on TSN, "The Talking Point: Will the Bruins set the single-season wins record?"
Just looked at the standings and damn the B's are good. Any one here watch them to explain what makes them so great this year?
It seems they have a similar roster to last year's.
There's a lot of chatter about Kane and Toews going to the B's but if they are so good this year, not sure they would mess with the chemistry. |

Kredji came back and Bergeron is relatively healthy. |

Loved Buffalos when Rick Jenneret was still calling. Miss his odd voice. The flyers broadcast is cheesy but good. Bruins is entertaining but has a thick Boston accent and you’ll have to endure some serious homerism. |

Jim Montgomery is letting the D roam. Cassidy would’ve stapled Lindholm to the bench for his high risk plays this year, but he’s approaching Norris votes because of it. Krejci coming back let’s them slot Coyle correctly at 3C. Ullmark has returned to form. They just have a ton of talent, Debrusk won the fight against Cassidy and looks like a new player when he’s not hurt. Crazy to think that a Bruins team without Rask and Chara would return to dominance with Bergeron and Marchand in their late 30s.
That said, what happens after this year with Bergeron/Krejci could return them to simply being ‘good’. |

I remember hearing a snippet of the Boston broadcast once, and couldn't get over how the announcer pronounced Chara. |

I mentioned it several blogs ago, i just watch now and turn the volume off. I wish there was an on ice setting so i can just hear the players, skaters, fans and refs. |

Len Kasper is a big hockey guy and I'd be interested to hear him call a game. A Detroit fan but I wouldn't hold that against him. |

Jack Edwards on the Bruins tv broadcast is THE (frank)ING WORST. I don't use the word hate too often but I HATE that mother (frank)er.
The hawks want announcers who go back and forth on social media with the fans. I know Foley wouldn't do that, and I'm not so sure Wideman does. That might be the reason they waited so long to announce JW as the radio announcer for this year. Ya Vosters is a goof but he ain't Jack Edwards.

There are flat microphones on top of the glass on both ends of both blue lines and behind each net for the game sounds. They try to tone down voices for the broadcast but in the penalty box there was a speaker that can be turned way up to be able to hear the whistles when the crowd is amped up. Also hear most of the voices as well, and it's spectacular.
