Karine Hains: Caufield Done for the Season What else could go wrong for the Canadiens this season? After Guhle and Slafkovsky, it’s now Caufield who’s out for a long time.

What is left of the season is challenging, might only win 6-8 games. It really isn't tanking when you are just getting beat straight up.

Trade deadline, draft, next years' training camp......it is where Habs fans are at now!

The Habs could throw their jerseys on their mothers and send them out there and the Leafs still wont beat them 6-1

Enjoy the fact that they have some good young players (the injuries suck) instead of whole team of underperforming vets. Now that Caufield has a sprained left Bedard, their pick will only get better.

WiFi beating the crap out of people?

See how/if the kids develop in a struggling time?

Get some kids up, rather than the boring retreads like Belzile (sorry, not sorry) that are not part of the future... rotate kids in/out of Laval and let them get some games?

See how MSL adjusts and if his coaching improves?

There are a few things to look for in games, but tbh, they might be hard to find.

I really had hoped he was going to hire a veteran coach to be his new assistant last off season that could better mentor him.

I think he has the right disposition / approach to be a successful coach, but he is seriously lacking experience by taking a short-cut from midget to NHL coach. And that is costing us games, which does not really matter now, but in a few years it will... so he has to get his poop together as well.

meh, hiring a more experienced assistant/coach to help out MSL would probably be the wise thing to do, but I don't get what you're big issue is with his coaching to be honest, he hasn't been doing such a turrible job.

I wonder if they will give a few games to guys like Roy or Beck. I don't care that much about Alex Belzine or Pinard

Lol, what the fkuck is he supposed to do with that line up? Caufield was on the 4th line doing nothing before he came in. At least some kids got some ice time with him.

Scotty Bowman could not save this team.

But keep blaming the coaching or the retro jerseys

I know there's no such thing as an actual curse but you gotta admit their record is rather horrible when they wear the retro jerseys, they've literally lost every (frank)ing game lol.

I did mention that before Pat. many decisions he makes I am puzzled with. I can list them again if you want.

at camp, Allen is my #1, the job is open for #2, lets give a chance to Primeau...
and since game 1, keeps going with Allen 2/3 of the time when Montembeault is clearly better.

Gallagher on the 1st PP unit as the bumper?!? lets go 0/24 before changing something. this one is so ridiculous it's difficult to find words. Gallagher has none of the qualities required to play that position. none.

playing kids LD on their weak side when you have vets who have done it before (Edmundson and Matheson)....

oh! and the famous we don't have a structure, we have concepts. we want to play offense. yeah right. last week he woke up and decided it was time to talk about a defensive plan. lol

and the list goes on and on.

I don't care if we lose games because of it, but I would like to see improvements, and I don't. THAT is a problem.
True that Scotty Bowman wouldn't win more games with that lineup, but that is not the issue. the issue is that MSL needs help. this is the Montreal Canadiens, not the PeeWee C de Saint-Léonard.

Silver lining top four in the lottery is now definitely within reach. Don't want to go all Provorov on you but the big guy upstairs might be helping with the tank cause with all these injuries. Two picks in the top ten would be tremendous for the pipeline, which just might be turning into the leagues best. Managing contracts will be a job that should be done systematically without emotion. oh I agree it hasn't been perfect but generally speaking the players seem to respond well to his coaching, the younger guys especially, which is crucial right now for the team moving forward. adjustements need to be made, as MSL is on a learning curve for sure, but there's a lot of positive in what he brings. I'm sure Burrows and Robidas have also had their say for certain decisions, and like I was saying adding some experience behind the bench would definitely help them with what they're trying to build.
