Of course it is valid. You don't even know what that stat is. You copied and pasted the example wording and never provided any link. Ristolainen gives up goals at the highest rate on the team this season. You continue to use one game samples. Ristolainen isn't close to being the Flyers best defenseman. He is arguably the worst defenseman on the team. How many times now is this that you labeled Ristolainen as the best defenseman on the team? Five or six times now? Right now, despite playing on his off side, York is the best defenseman on the team and it's not close. - MJL
goals against or GA/60 are meaningless for an individual metric because there are 6 players on the ice, including the goalie. Risto or any player can do everything right but if the goalie doesn't save a shot he should or another player turns the puck over and that ends up as a goal against, all the players on the ice are impacted. That is why looking at the difference between xGA and xGF is a much better metric to use since now you are taking into account if your goalie lets up a bad one or the opposing goalie makes a great save. |

That "worst team in the NHL" still has more top-100 players than the Flyers do

Why Your NHL Team Should Make a Trade Deadline Blockbuster
Philadelphia Flyers
Listen to me carefully: Blockade whichever mush-brained Comcast big shot still thinks you don’t need to rebuild in the executive bathroom, then trade everyone with a pulse. |

give me the attitude and compete level of Tony D anytime over casper. Not even close. You claim you watch the games do you really think one doesn't throw his body around more than the other? - hello it's me 2050
I watched the part where he threw his body at the puck and totally missed it, letting Chicago walk in and score their game winning goal.
Btw, I've been calling him Tony Angelo for months. Nice to see it catching on. |

I could be wrong, but the Ducks seem to be the only other team with those bragging rights. |

Cliff what kind of contract d you think Ghost will get now that he is an upcoming free agent? 4 years? 6 per? - hello it's me 2050
agreed. and its a shame, of the two i would take one over the other every time for playoff hockey. but that point is moot.
other bonus is less of an injury history and a few years younger.

A 4-1 home loss to arguably the worst team in the NHL. Not ideal.
Flyers have maybe 1 player (Konecny) in the top 100 players in the NHL. Hard to fathom how void of talent they are. - PLindbergh31
Looking at the top 200 fantasy players updated just yesterday, TK is #89, Hayes is #144. |

The only problem is that the Ducks are in position to add one in the entry draft and the Flyers... probably not lol |

oh ... and the Athletic is real life hockey? Says who? I saw the sheet you presented, I disagree with a lot of it. Fantasy hockey rankings I find to be insightful of the impact of a player. |

I don’t agree with that sheet in its entirety either, but the basic situation remains the same. Is that for skaters only? No goalies? TK is obviously playing at top line level this season. I don’t buy the defense excuse when on a bad team. Isn’t top line the bottom category anyway? …and he is the only Flyers skater making that level of impact.

GA/60 is the most relevant defensive state available. If we just use xGF% and ignore role and player usage, Nick Seeler is the 2nd best defenseman on the team behind Cam York. Enough said.
I guess the goalies let up bad goals the most when Ristolainen is on the ice.
Ristolainen and regressed to the point where he now a 3rd pair defenseman that has to be sheltered and limited in order to get any value out of him at all. That is the reality. For 5M a year and a player asset cost of a 1st, 2nd and another player.

That's what I'm looking for. How well a player can break his stick over the net. Gostisbehere is just as good offensively as Angelo is. Gostisbehere is no defensive stalwart but he is better defensively than Angelo is. No doubt. - MJL
I like players that hate losing. In all the year Ghost was here, I saw him get pissed off once, and that was the last game of the season when he nailed Friedman at the end of the game. Flyers lost to the "lowly" Hawks so they all should have been breaking their sticks.

You're assuming that if a player doesn't do something such as smashing his stick over the net, then he doesn't hate to lose? How many other Flyers players did that last night? Does that mean they don't hate to lose?
