Did thr capitals have their pride night as well? I read that they did and I read that ovi and the other 2 Russians also did not participate I'm their pride night.
Can anyone confirm this? - Bob Habib
Someone over on Ek's main blog today commented WSH had their Pride Night Tuesday same date as PHI. Supposedly OV, Orlov, and Kunestov not shown in related PR photos.

That's the story that I heard as well.
Kind of a double standard if true. Because one guy is close to breaking the NHL goal record his name slips under the rug?
I mean, good for all of them for sticking to their rights and feelings but why has peovorov become the poster whipping boy when his fellow countrymen are doing the same thing?
Sorry to bring provy up like this I just found this new info to be worth letting people know about.

IIRC yeah.
It's just messed up that the Flyers still don't seem to understand what constitutes an effective modern defensive defenseman. A guy like RR is just totally wrong for the role and a guy like Braun only brings half the ingredients. - Tomahawk
I can tell you what the Flyers see in Ristolainen. I believe it was the game in 2021 where the Sabres were on an 18 game losing streak and Risto almost single-handedly destroyed them with the body and I think had a good offensive game too.
I have yet to see him have that kind of impact in a Flyers uniform, if he played like that consistently then the Flyers would be winners in the trade.

They all came out on the ice though with their teammates though.
I don't know if Provorov was given the option to skate with a regular jersey. I suspect he had the option. |

That reminds me of when the flyers played the rangers and Jody Shelley almost singlehandedly beat us and then in the offseason the flyers signed him to a multi year deal. Lol

All good questions. They’re saying it’s because of his play in the Caps game and a trade is not imminent. But trust me they’re trying to trade him. Imo they want to get a forward for him preferably a center who can score. The Wild think Goligoski can take Dumba’s spot until Faber finishes his season at the U. Provorov is probably too expensive. - Minnyhock

Right, but I assumed the spirit of your question was: is Ovechkin willing to publicly support/be associated with gay pride issues? The issue of whether it occurred at Gay Pride 2023 or the day after or 259 days before is surely immaterial? - PT21

You are assuming he knew what was on the flag and what it meant back in 2020 instead of the possible fact he just posed with a fan not knowing or caring about the flag. |

Are you serious? Ovie by then would have spent 15 years in DC, and he wouldn't know what that flag represented?

its a much smaller leap of logic than the mental gymnastics you come in here and perform on a daily basis. Its much more likely he wasn't even paying attention to what the flag was. |

Assumption is the biggest part of this so-called controversy. I didn't bring this news to this website about hockey, I am just discussing it. The assumption is the evil part. I don't know Provorov or what he hates or doesn't hate. The biggest issue is there are some people who just can't seem to understand that not supporting something in a public space is not the same as hating. That's called freedom of expression.
Not everyone supports polygamy, but that doesn't mean they hate Mormons.
The people who are actually making a big deal out of it are the ones spreading the hate by accusing others of hating. It's a bad cycle that is ripping our society apart. When someone has to force their belief on to others then they obviously don't have enough conviction in their own.
