Hart is going to get the majority of the playing time. It is better for Ersson to go to the AHL and get the majority of the playing time. - MJL
Says who you? Yeah I can see how playing in the AHL in his case is better. Why play in 40% of the rest of the games at the NHL level when you can get more playing time in the AHL.
Its about getting comfortable to the NHL level and speed of the game. He will gain more valuable experience at the NHL level. |

How could I be offended? I am not him. I am sure the percentage varies according to the individual posters. We all haven’t been hockey fans for the same amount of time for instance.
Let me ask then, what can the Flyers currently do to improve their 4th line? Keeping in mind where they are currently as a team and that maybe they try to trade someone like MacEwen at the deadline.
What do you make of the Ratcliffe situation? - NC Flyers Fan
Add younger players to the 4th line and try to develop some players.
I haven't watched any AHL games. |

This implies that having a better 4th line, one that doesn't lose the war most games, wouldn't help the team improve. He does hurt the team. That is a simple undisputable fact. Not to mention that a team in the Flyers position, has no business signing and using a player like him, at his age. They should be playing younger players with some upside on the 4th line. That there are bigger and more important issues with the team, doesn't remove that as an issue. That approach, makes zero sense. - MJL
In one post you say Erson is better in the AHL getting more playing time. Does that not apply to a "young" player that you mention above?
Does it benefit Ollie more to play 8-10 minute a game on the 4th line or top minutes in all situations with LHV? Whats better for his "development"? |

Name some names of these young players you want on the 4th line.

Sounds like someone is talking out both sides of their mouth. I mean, on one hand a guy benefits from lots of playing time at the AHL level and yet he wants to bring up some kid to play 8 minutes a game at the NHL level when he could be getting 17 minutes a game at the AHL level. Eh what?

I need to explain the difference to you of a player who is going to be playing every game versus a player who is going to be sitting on the bench the majority of games, working the bench door?

Now I do not disagree with him in what he means. I would have no issue say playing Ollie- Tanner ( if healthy)- say bellows as a line while jettison the entire 4th line scrubs. This is the perfect year to do that. Also I do not see any prospects banging down the door with their play to get a call up.
Now this would never happen for a variety of reasons.

omg. Yes please explain the diff as Erson would easily be playing 40% of the games as it is clear the coaching staff trust him.

 - MJL I get that point, but I see no point in bringing up a kid to play 8 minutes a game in a role that he isn't suited for. Let him continue to play the role that he is being groomed to play at the AHL level. Hell, the 4th line was their best line the other night as far as generating chances, but they simply have no finishers on that line.

Your opinion about Ersson seems to be based on your opinion of Sandstrom, which we disagree about. Have you thought about the push to the playoffs and that the Phantoms playoffs will give an opportunity to play series against the best AHL teams? That is experience he hasn’t had yet. You could be wrong and they Flyers get an asset for Sandstrom. Or the Flyers/Phantoms could have injury trouble and need all their goalies now. Maybe they can’t afford to just lose one now with months left to play.
Forwards and goalies development differences seem like comparing veggies and meat instead of different fruits. Totally different, as there is only one crease. |

Assuming JVR gets traded and Coots is not ready, I am curious who gets the slot. Forester? Brink? Lycksell? Cates? |

They will get more than 8 minutes a game. What do you think players like Frost and Tippet get each game at ES? Your statement that the 4th line, if you're talking about Brown/McEwen/Deslauriers generated the most scoring chances is incorrect.

They aren't gonna bring some kid up and play him 15 minutes a game. They have to earn the trust from Torts. I noticed the 4th line the other night more than any other line. I don't look at numbers....I watch the games and I noticed them the most (although we were enjoying a few adult beverages too).

My opinion in Sam is simply he has shown to be the better goalie. The coaching staff backs that up based on the usage. There is no reason why he cant play say 40% of the remaining games. Also with Hart being injury prone is that such a bad idea? Now if they give Felix 40%, then fine. I do not see that happening.
AHL playoffs does not take precedent over learning and developing t the NHL level for someone who clearly has shown so far he belongs in the NHL.
If they lost Felix on waivers it is a nothing burger. He will very likely not be back next season. If they can get a 7th for him by all means do it.
if this if that.

How are they going to get more than 8 minutes? Who they supplanting i the top 9?
Why do you think they will get more than 8-10 that the current 4th line gets? Replace Ollie for ND. Still getting 8-10. |

bans are silly. anyone who supports them well.... - hello it's me 2050 I'm far from a ban happy person, but there needs to be a line somewhere. I don't consider myself to be politically correct and I probably couldn't survive in today's corporate world, but some of the crap that was being spewed on here was very much ban worthy. Thanks! |
