Get ready the Nelson for Jeff Carter trade is upon us.

I blame the Wolfpack. We ripped on Lou and his lack of moves.

This is the thing. What is even left to trade to make further improvements? This reminds me of the Ryan Smyth move in a way.

I can't seem to fathom Lou Lam with all his experience not having an inside lane on an extension. Fantasy hockey GMs like Snow come up short with these situations. I'd like to think Lou has a plan with Horvat......but maybe im just being overly optimistic.

Bettman has always had a hard on for us. If we just played the string out, unloaded some players before the TD and not traded Raty, that is what would have been better for this organization, short term and long term.

The only thing that sticks in my craw is that maybe we’re making trades like this because Lou thinks he can’t get anyone from outside LI to sign any kind of long-term contract to play here. History tells us we have a hard enough time keeping our best players and the players from other organizations never sign here. That’s really all I got it’s purely speculation on my part.

Like I said I don’t even know if I want to sign this guy. BUT if we don’t that is not going to look good to the rest of the NHL or players…. We’ve kind of painted ourselves into a corner.

That changed a year ago when I realized this team was toast. No he’s making moves when we shouldn’t be. Perfect.

I think you're right on all fronts, and sadly this is a business, and after last season, and this current downward spiral, he had to do something. I'd have to imagine season ticket holders were not happy, and there werent a lot of renewals.

I dont know why, but for whatever reason, UFA's dont wanna come to the isles. The building excuse is out now.....so whats the reason?

Horvat was originally a Devils draft pick wasn’t he?

If he doesn't sign Horvat, thats immediate grounds for termination. When Vanek walked after trading a first for him, to this day I still couldn't believe Snow wasn't fired. Its unfathomable.

Still a risky trade whether the Islanders have trouble signing players or not. Islanders have a new building so that is not the issue. Islanders have to find out why they strike out with top FA's. Maybe their sale pitch is lousy.

We don’t play in Manhattan and we’re not the Rangers.

Oops…did I say that out loud?

I think Lou traded the #1 for Schneider.

That's where I disagree. He didn’t. He hasn’t done much of anything since he’s been here. Now when the team has sucked for a season and a half and has problems all over the lineup you trade for a center running up to the trade deadline outside of a wild card spot? For what to hope we squeeze into the playoffs and get spanked by Carolina or Boston? Agree to disagree on this.

They should hire Neil Smith just to talk to FA's.

Perhaps there’s another center out there we can trade for while we have cizikas on the wing on our first line?

In fairness this team started out strong, and had some injuries. I dont see too many weaknesses, other than the PP, and a top line that doesn't carry the team.

Disagree on this also. We have an obvious need for good wingers. Like a few of them.

2nd line is not that good either. Time is slow and older as well at forward.

Thats funny, but thats what you get when you've failed to put together a legitimate first line in the NHL. I think the trade overall is fair, and it addresses some needs. Lets see what happens.

So who do you guys want traded next? When he was here I got a Strome jersey and he got traded. Last Christmas my wife took the jersey to the team store and had Beauvillier's name put on it. I figure whoever gets #18 now is the next to go.

Folks, let's take up a collection turn this into a Bailey jersey.

I think they were counting on an aging Palmieri to put up some pts, but he's been injured. Beauvillier was approaching the consistency of Bailey.
