Correction “deep run”

Does that mean one and out? If yes, Lou needs a magic move.

The Isles have been assembled with 3/4 of their line-up made up as the same type of player. The 1/4" which was brought in to add scoring power has not lived up to the hype.

This puts enormous pressure on the back end. If they fail it gets ugly. As was shown by their play against western conference contending teams.

If the islanders continually go for retread or bottom 6 forwards for their scoring on the cheap. The will continue to have the same results.

This core of players needs to be disbanded. They have proven over four years that they can only go so far. Furthermore with the injuries, it has also exposed that the teams depth chart is in question. When Ross the Boss is your substitute for Barzal, that is a problem.

Exactly right! The team has had a top 6 problem for years. You cannot just bring in 3rd and 4th line players. You need speed and skill and in a Cap world, you be better able to develop young talent. For years, the issue with Garth was lousy coaching, but the roster was still an issue and it has not been addressed under Lou.

Fire Lou! The team has regressed from the prior GM’s advances of this team ever since his arrival. Can Lane too.

Solid goaltending and a solid d give them a chance to win every night and beat the averages to make it as a wild card team. But no prolonged runs for first place or win 4 playoff rounds.

If you accept complacency and not progressing to the next level. Do not do anything. This core will not make it beyond what has already been achieved.

Not saying Fire Lou and can Lambert. The players need to execute. And they are not on a consistent basis.

Again, if you enjoy just being competitive and complacency. Do wish for or expect anything.

Looking for a winning consistency. They have proven they can make the playoffs. They have proven they can win. What they have proven is consistency and the ability to take their game to the next level.

They will not do it with the current roster.

Because Garth was lousy should not give any other GM a pass. If some fans want to live off the two playoffs runs, they are free to do that. The current team does not look good in terms of going on a long playoff run. Just making the playoffs could be a challenge. Lou has simply not done a good job with the roster. The proof is the team struggling the last two season. I would say the same thing if Garth, Lou, Neil, or Bill Torrey were the GM. Even Bill took a lot of heat for the lousy drafts after the dynasty years.

#Isles at practice

Lee-Barzal-Holmstrom
Beauvillier-Nelson-Bailey
Parise-Pageau-Fasching
Martin-Cizikas-Clutterbuck

Johnston, Raty, Palmieri all wearing gray jerseys as extra Fs.

D pairs rotating with seven d-men

Sorokin and Varlamov manning the nets

Interesting PP2 at #Isles practice. Two d-men:

Aho
Pulock-Beauvillier-Bailey
Parise

Other unit:
Dobson
Barzal-Pageau-Nelson
Lee

Another solid indicator Barzal will likely be back tomorrow after missing last game with a lower-body "tweak."

Starting to arrive at the conclusion that Pulock has no business playing on either PP unit. He can't move the puck or himself and his monster slapshot is largely ineffective.

Pulock has been a disappointment. Pulock should be better offensively.

I don't even care that much if he is or isn't offensively talented. But he isn't this year and he shouldn't be on the PP. Dobson and Aho are the d-men that should be QB'ing the PP right now

I get that his shot is a tempting weapon to want to utilize, but it isn't accurate or particularly effective

Nothing has worked with this PP for years. The coaching has changed, but the roster has not changed in a big way.

#Isles Lane Lambert with some good news: D Adam Pelech (suspected head injury) has resumed skating. He's been on the ice three times on his own.

Didn’t say you said that.
Now yes I do like the last 4 years much better then the 15 years prior and if you don’t then you’re dumber than I thought.
Team lost its best player and proceeded to make the POs three years in a row with 2 consecutive conference finals. If we won the cup you would complain we didn’t win 2 in a row. Some women are never satisfied

Most likely. Guess Palmieri is back in. Raty has something to build on now he had a decent showing…

It's good Raty got a taste of the NHL. Have to think Raty and Dafour have a good chance to make the team next year.

Looks more that Holmstrom is coming off IR and is back in. He was skating on Barzal's line yesterday at practice and Palmieri wasn't skating with any particular line.

Plus Raty was only averaging 8:25 TOI/GP. Hopefully he goes back to BPT and kills it after getting a taste.

I'm not as confident about Dufour (re: making the team next year)

He's scoring well in BPT (33gp - 12g, 10a) for a rookie but I think his skating is what's going to be an issue at the NHL level. That puts him on pace for about 26g over a 72gm AHL season, which is great for his first pro year though. I just think he's going to be a little bit longer of a project.

The year after next will see: Bailey/Beauvillier/Clutterbuck/Martin all come off the cap and that is my guess for when he makes the team full-time.

This could be chief. Have to think he starts in the NHL as a bottom 9.

Seems like some sort of 3rd line role could be in the cards for him when he starts for sure.

By then, with Martin and Clutterbuck gone, the fourth line could look something like maybe Durandeau-Cizikas-Fasching. Or replace Durandeau with a cheap 4th liner signed as a UFA.
