Thats funny, but thats what you get when you've failed to put together a legitimate first line in the NHL. I think the trade overall is fair, and it addresses some needs. Lets see what happens. - kindlyrick
Yeah I disagree. We’re not winning the cup. That’s why you make this trade with zero depth in the farm. Even if he signs him it’s stupid to me. Don’t get it but whatever I’ll keep watching. |

Most likely sellers when we trade Horvat. - Cptmjl
Well….if we’re completely out of it, we could end up with 2 1sts. I still think, if we’re sellers, we should be trading Casey. That could be another 1st. He becomes really valuable in the playoffs and I think the entire league knows that. |

I think they were counting on an aging Palmieri to put up some pts, but he's been injured. Beauvillier was approaching the consistency of Bailey. - kindlyrick
I’m glad to see Beau go. It was time. Maybe he’ll put his game together in Vancouver he wasn’t doing it here. We don’t have good wingers. We need them and have for years now. |

Happy we got another center so we can really shore up that 5th line. |

We were looking for a center? - Cptmjl
I think they move barzal to ceter with horvat. If he doesn't resign it's Vanek 2.0 and that's my worry |

Apparently Vancouver retained 25% of Horvat’s salary. |

What do you think is a fair number for horvat? I think he’ll probably be looking for an 8 year 72 million dollar contract. He’s not worth that at 27. |

Been saying this since the 90s lol
Unfortunately, I think Lou swung and missed on the top UFA's for three summers in a row. While its better to keep assets and sign someone without giving up anything, he couldnt do it for whatever reason, 3 off seasons in a row. So here we are. If nothing else they got a good player in Horvat, thats how im looking at it.

Perhaps Varly gets shipped for a backup, and a winger. I dont think Lou is done, but it will all depend on where they are at the deadline. |

Looks that way, according to Lou

Lou Lamoriello says #Canucks retained 25% of Bo Horvat's salary, which events out the cap with Anthony Beauvillier.
So his cap hit is $4.125M right now. If this whole thing blows up and doesn't work out by the end of Feb then I guess the Isles could concievably retain another 25%-50% and get back a good haul for him? I don't know, I'm so confused right now. |

My guess is that he comes in somewhere in the $8M-$8.5M range. Maybe up to $9M but not more than that. |

Lou on trading away first-round pick: "I dispute this is a trade about just this year. Our intention is to retain him (Bo Horvat)." |

One thing I’ve learned in the last 10 minutes is that Raty isn’t as highly regarded by other hockey fans as he is by us. I’m a little surprised by that. |

Maybe he will but he should’ve never made the trade without a contract in place for the price he just paid. |

5 or 6 year deal but this is his big shot so we will overpay to keep him I think |

I don't think so, but I'm not so confident Lou won't just go all-in on re-signing him either way |

To be fair we had nobody else so we think he’s great. He’s literally the only decent prospect we have. |

I'll say that shipping off Beau is probably just as much of a wake-up call to the other players as bringing in Horvat. Wouldn't have happened back at the ol' Country Club. |

Hopefully that's a side benefit of this deal. Shipping out a well-liked teammate should be a kick in the ass that they need to get their sh it together |

Yeah I don't totally disagree, but I also don't know if doubling down on a potentially bad move is the way to go either |

Not really sure who though? We couldn’t trade any of our other wingers if we wanted too. They are safe |
