I beg to differ, Detroit played 2 very good periods and layed back in the 3rd and Husso won the game for them. Hronek had another beast of a game, and his partner Maatta also was good. Berggren is fast becoming a favorite of mine and you can see him just getting better game by game! I am about ready to get his jersey!

As far as I'm concerned Zadina has lost his roster spot to Berggren. It's a no brainer at this point. Berggren can play on any line and mesh well. Not sure how Fabbri will get any ice time either whenever he returns. I'd be fine if the Wings traded either Zadina or Fabbri. Hoping Soderblom finally gets back in the lineup very soon. Wings forced a ton of turnovers on Tampa by taking away Tampa's passing and taking away the neutral zone completely in the first two periods. Husso was very sharp the entire game.

I agree this was one of Detroits best games played this season for two periods. As Babcock used to say, they took their foot off the gas pedal in the third. With that said I will take the two points. Good to see all the lines rolling in the first two frames. I enjoy watching Berggren and Veleno they seem to have some nice chemistry. Raymond looks sharper back on Larkins line and Perron is Mr. Consistency, game in and game out he does his job and works hard. Husso continues to impress and if all of the new players continue to put up solid numbers my vote for GM of the year goes to Yzerman, well if I had a vote he would get it.

"As of last night, Jonatan Berggren is now our most efficient player. With 2.30 points/60 5-on-5 he's ahead of Larkin who scores 2.12 points/60."
Yes, he will take Zadina's spot and work his way up the line-up!
Soderblom should go to GR, Czarkik is also doing well! Sadly, I think Zadina and Bert will be trade bait, if not at the TDL, then next summer. Fabbri and Pysyk are yet to play this season, it will be interesting where they fit in. I am surprised they haven't sent Haag down yet. Do they accumulate more TDL cap space with him on the roster?

Mornin', H! I tend to agree with you; there was fall-off in the 3d...Husso's a beast. Full Stop. However, I don't think the fall-off in the 3d was as bad as it has been this season, TBL threw EVERYTHING except the bus-driver at the Wings.....pulling Vas with 3+min left in the game (might have been earlier, I could only see the screen on my phone, not the ticker at the bottom) and the TBL pipe-fitters were swarming. BUT, DET weathered the storm thanks to some pretty solid stick work from Big Ben, Mo Side, and Maatta. I'm REALLY liking the 2d D-pair; Hronek's freed up to play more of his game, still needs to work on shut-down D but he has Ollie there to fix any screw-ups.

Everyone knows I'm a Zadina fan. But he's lost a job. Period. Bear-Grin's here to stay. This kid's the real deal, gang. His ability to see the ice in incredible, some of his passes were sent of thanks to my Mom's eyes (you know, the ones in the back of her head?????). He's what we hoped Zadina would be. Zads is a TDL send off, if not before. Fabbri & Vrana coming back will make this team a juggernaut. Veleno & Bear-Grin are so sublime together.

This was a good game, but we still need to learn how to shut down O-Zone entries in the 3d. Husso's good....but he can only withstand so much, we have to give him support deep in the game.

Well Zadina broke his leg so he probably won’t be back to full speed again this season anyways. No point in giving him away and nobody is touching Fabbri’s contract. More likely they move Suter if they ever have a healthy forward group.

Berggren has been great but I would suggest expectations are tempered as he has an unsustainable PDO of 105. Also stylistically he’s a polar opposite to Zadina so I’m not sure he is what anyone hoped Zadina would be.

"Expectation Management"; should be a class ALL sports fans are required to take.... Valid points, all. As a fan, it's easy to get wrapped up in a team that shows improvement, think we all want to see the SCPO in our headlights. Reality sucks, Feds

Zadina's been a let-down, for whatever reason he just hasn't hit his stride. The hope is that Bear-Grin exceeds expectations.......as he matures and grows his game. But again....Expecation Management. Buzz Kill

I’m just saying I remember people calling AA the next Fedorov and he obviously could never live up to half of that hype.

What's intriguing about Berggren is he's scoring all of his points on the 4th line. With almost zero powerplay time. That's impressive. He seems to just keep getting better. It will be interesting see how much better he can get. I won't be seeing him play in GR anymore... I'm pretty sure of that.

Side notes... I think Rasmussen has finally turned the corner and is starting to become the kind of impact player management was hoping for. His skating improvement and quicker shot release is noticeable from earlier years. Andrew Copp seems to be getting more relevant as the season goes on... (albeit slowly). He's improved his faceoffs to 53% and contributing more to the scoresheet.

Wholly agree. My point was I think Bergy has the ability to be better than we thought Zadina would be....if that makes sense. But yes, to your point, hype/expectations do need to be tempered; for every Matthews, there's a Zadina.

Bear-Grin shows a eorld of potential, and I think he's here to stay. Elmer probably goes to GR when he's ready to play, and he'll probably stay down for most of the year.....but he blew past 9 games so his ELC has kicied in, I believe.

We do have a weapth of talent. It's different than some of the leading teams though, asit probably is for rebuilding teams; we have very few long-term high $$ contracts and lots of low cost/high reward contracts, which bodes well for the foreseeable future.

I think of Berggren as staying at center (may be wrong). Veleno is playing better at wing. We have a huge logjam at wing and an extra goalie.

Bertuzzi, Zadina, Elmer, Fabbri, pysyk and Luff on IR and Vrana on personal leave. 7 wingers. Zadina and Berggren are complementary more than adversarial. I do wonder if there are calls happening about Fabbri who is skating again but I have no idea. Zadina gets a lot of bad press but I think he has adapted quite well and even played top 6. It may come down to who doesn’t need waivers and how the team is sitting.

I never thought them sitting so well could be a potential issue with personnel, that’s a lot of hurt players. GR needs something back but Berggren and Veleno look good right now. Yzerman never stops working. Once the battle for Kane and Boeser are decided (both could go to a NY team, who knows) the GMs who expect playoff runs could be calling. Just a weird spot right now.

T was just looking at the return Holland got for AA: Those 2 picks and Gagner were a haul! But the picks were traded away and look what NYI and LA drafted! Seems they may have benefitted more than our favorite team!

Sam Gagner ($315,000 retained - 10%) · $2,835,000
2020 2nd round pick (EDM - #45 - Brock Faber)
2021 2nd round pick (EDM - #52 - Aatu Räty)

Niederbach and Faber are a wash.

Sundqvist, Walman, and a 2023 2nd > Raty

Ned playing tonight means a red wing loss. (Hope I am wrong). Ned is good for at least 2 five hole goals and always looks shaky and not sure of himself. Just keep playing Husso.
