Soo you’d rather have the folks in place picking 7th overall rather than in the top 3? - ClaudeFather
Is that what you think I said? Not at all, of course higher draft picks are more probably going to be better players. Its miserable rooting for your team to lose. Personally I watch each game looking for improvements in young players. I'm expecting nothing but still happy to see them play well and if they win, great. |

Whats laughable is fans rooting for losses to get into a lottery for an unproven commodity. I watched the Oilers do that year after year...and they finally hit on McDavid...but how close are they to a cup? NHL draft is like MLB...rarely a sure bet. It's much more important to have good talent evaluation, and coaches who can develop that talent. I haven't seen Fletcher shine as GM, but believe Torts and staff can develop this team when young guys like Brink, Desnoyer, York, Gauthier, and Foerster are Flyers regulars. - DANCER

This team and organization is what’s miserable. It’s hard to even get through an entire game. I pray they lose every game just for the glimmer of hope it gets us out of this hell we are currently in. |

I've made that point a number of times. Getting a top draft pick would obviously help but how likely would it be for that player to be a franchise changer? Without successfully building around that player. It won't matter much. This team is years away. Most likely closer to 10 than 5.

Connor McDavid will probably win a cup with Edmonton before the Flyers win even one more playoffs game. - BulliesPhan87
McDavid was drafted 7 years ago. Edmonton is not remotely close to being capable of winning the Cup.

Eventually its gonna improve no matter what we think. Don't get an ulcer over them!

for real just adding mid tier players doesn't get you the cup if you don't have them supporting top talent players |

There are times rhat tou just don't feed the trolls.
Some come for attention and some are just flat out stupid and don't understand what a top 3 pick in a generational draft can do for a team.
Get the elite talent and then build around it. Edmonton, for example, does not know how to build a team around not 1 but 2 elite, phenomenal, top of the food chain talents.
That's why Edmonton struggles. They don't kmow how to build a team around their top 2 guys. And as much as I dislike the guy, Kane boosted that team and fit in so damn well that's its sad to him miss the season now. They need to replace him ASAP... I wonder what they'd give for Hayes 😂
And I also agree that Edmonton will win a cup before we ever get to sniff a conference final again. That's how far apart these teams are with talent and projectory

There are so many other things to do wirh my life than watch this team lose more games.
Yay! They comlete hard! Let's spend $400 on tickets, $25 to park, $40 to feed my wife and I, and then well over $100 in liquor to make myself enjoy being there to watch this poop show
Why does anybody continue to support this team with their hard earned money?
They can't even be honest with us about thw direction of this franchise or even be honest about an injury update.
Ellis was day to day...
Atkinson should be ready by opening night...
This is an aggressive retool....
I expect us to be more competitive going forward...

Didn't you answer the question or even refute your own response? What did McDavid and Draisaitl do for Edmonton? Eichel for Buffalo? What is that top 3 pick going to do for the team? IS that player going to be the franchise savior and lift this team out from the poop show it is under. Is it even fair to expect that from the player? The other point is that even if that player is going to ascend into the ranks of the top players in the league. It's going to take the team time to build around that player sufficiently. It takes more than one star to build a legit cup team.

I currently have such a disdain for the management of this team and their extremely flawed, dinosaur philosophy, that losing actually makes me feel good. Each additional loss further invalidates their "system". The problem is if they start winning it justifies their thinking and perpetuates this flawed and extremely BORING on ice product. I'll take youth, speed and creativity over waiver wire grinders with structure any day of the week. Can you imagine what Tortorella would do with Hughes |

McDavid adds speed, creativity, excitement. To put it another way - entertainment. What if the Hart does not give up 2 of those goals? They would have grunted out a win but still would have put me to sleep..... |

I'm not rooting for them to lose. That said, I'm not so disappointed when they do. Except maybe when it's a blow-out, or more importantly, when they're not giving it their best effort. |

I guess it depends on what you're looking for. As an older fan, I haven't seen the Flyers raise the Cup since I was a kid. Younger fans have never seen it. Entertainment is not enough for me. I have seen plenty of seasons where I was able to watch one player for entertainment. I thought that Forsberg and Gagne were entertaining to watch when the Flyers finished last overall. Do you think Edmonton fans are still fulfilled by all the entertainment that McDavid and Draisaitl provide when Edmonton fails in the playoffs again and again?
As customers and consumers of the product. I think we should raise the bar higher than just being entertained with our demands and expectations of the team. Maybe then they will actually change. |

I have seen one Stanley Cup Final game in my lifetime in which the Flyers had a chance to win the cup. In 97 they got swept and and 2010 just fell short. They have been to the final five times in my lifetime. I want nothing other than a cup at this point. If they get one then I will be fine with being "entertained". Without gutting the FO this team will remain 5+ years away though. Tough to watch this team more than once a week honestly.
