Shesterkin is one such example. He lifted a bad defensive team. Gibson is just not good. The past 3 seasons and the beginning of this one, he's not that good. And for that celery, he sucks.

I would like to see a long Cozens deal done before worrying about getting others. He's solidifying himself as a solid 2C, and if Buf can catch him on a long term Tage deal, they'll have tons of space to create a deep and deadly roster.

Is it? We all know Tage is underpaid, and Cozens agent is too. Situations are different obviously, with age and draft status. We'll see how the rest of the year plays out, but I'd rather not bridge. This is all to say what does the player think. You can offer anything they still have to sign. Does Cozens maybe think I'll take a slight discount (not a huge on, but would you jump at 8 years 7M as an example?) That still makes him over 50M to play hockey and be beloved in Buffalo.

He's coming into his own, and I'm seeing Dylan Larkin vibes coming from him where he has outworked everyone constantly and is starting to be rewarded. Again, the Ducks "being bad" does not impact how an individual player performs.

He can still be great and lose games 3-2, 3-1 and have 10 saves above expected. But he doesn't. He stinks.

They wouldn't be this bad if he was performing like a top 10 goalie.

Of course they have to try, but if Cozens ends the year at 30 goals and 50 assists, he might consider $8M per to be a discount, considering his age and how much he might be giving up long term by signing a max length deal before the cap limit explodes upward.
